A paper clip challenge is where someone trades a lower pet saying something along the lines off “Hey I’m hoping to get (the pets name)! I hope you can help out” they want you to trade a better pet for your worse pet in order go get to their target pet

it's named after this guy who managed to obtain a house after bartering a paperclip for another item of higher value, then another item of even higher value and so on. here's a wikipedia entry about it. most people don't support it since paperclip traders are essentially asking you to give them something that's rarer/more valuable than what they're offering.

Its when you set a goal (a certain pet you wanna get to) and you start with say, a common, you ask people to give you an older pet either a couple months or a year ect.

You keep asking people to help you until you reach your pet you wanted. A lot of people don't do it because they don't want to give an older pet for a newer one.

not necessarily true. the three month rule exists and as long as you offer a pet in the higher of the three month rule, it’s fair technically. obviously this wouldn’t work for lists but you get what i mean!
