Oekaki help?

Postby NovaBlu » Sun Apr 07, 2019 8:30 am

Hi there! I just joined CS today and I absolutely love Oekaki. They're two problem I have with it though. One, how do I make my brush smoother? I see all these amazing pieces with amazingly smooth lines and mine are always rough and pixelated. Two I have an issue with coloring. Whenever I try to fill in a drawing with the bucket tool there are always white pixels on the edges, and when I try to color on a layer below the line art, it usually fills the whole canvas or never shows up at all? Thank you for any help <3

hi!! i don’t really know too much about oekaki, since i don’t use it often, but here’s what i know from my experience:

- the problem of smoothness might depend on what tool you’re using. i usually use the “pen” tool, and i like the smoothness of that already, but if you don’t, i think there’s an option underneath “tool options” that gives you the choice of increasing the blend of the brush. i just set my brush size to 4 and my blend to 14% just to test out if this works, and i think the lines are decently smooth!!
- unfortunately, i don’t think there’s any way to fix the bucket tool problem. bucket tools on virtually every drawing program leave little spaces at the edges of the lines.
- i’m assuming you mean that whenever you use the bucket tool on a layer beneath the lineart, it colors the entire canvas, and the reason for this is because there’s no lineart on that layer to sort of tell the bucket tool when to stop. if you draw a circle on the oekaki and then use the bucket tool to fill it in, it’ll only fill in the circle because the circle’s lines act as a sort of “border” for it, but if you use the bucket tool on a layer beneath the circle lineart layer, it’ll just fill in the whole canvas, because there’s no lineart there to restrict it.

i hope this helped!!
