πŸ‘‰ Question About OC's? πŸ‘ˆ

Postby ANETRA » Sun Mar 24, 2019 9:45 am

(I'm not sure where this was supposed to go, so sorry if it is in the wrong place, feel free to move it.)

Hey everyone!
I have seen a lot of people with drawings of characters called OC's and was always confused what they were for but never really questioned it until several years have passed (LOL), when I decided to finally figure out what they're used for.
This is probably a dumb question, but what exactly are these characters used for? What is the art used for?

Thanks!

OC stands for original character. They are basically characters that people make for themselves or to trade/sell. They can be based off of the creator or just made up randomly. Hope this helps ^-^

OC simply means "Original Character", A character that a person made and belongs to them

They can be used for whatever a person wants, and art of someone's OC could be for any reason, Maybe just for fun, just to look at, or maybe for storytelling.

if you want a small example, the art in my signature is of two of my OCs, and the art is simply for fun

I've noticed there seems to be a difference between OCs that are mainly art and OCs that are mainly written? Like there are a lot of OCs that are beautiful artwork that is traded between people but personally my OCs are all written characters from my novel and I use them for roleplay. You can tell kinda because the characters in the signature above me have a lot more special design? They are really beautiful, props to you for drawing that art! Mine is just a normal teenage boy with no special design, the ears and tail and 20s clothes are because the roleplay's theme was 1920s werewolves, that's it really. He has a complex personality and backstory though, being one of the main characters of my novel.

To make a long story short I think there's a difference between OCs by artists and OCs by writers/roleplayers
