What is the paperclip challenge??

I've only been here since about June and I've seen some stuff around about a paperclip challenge but I have no idea what it actually is ^^;
Hopefully someone out there will be able to explain it for me!

Pretty much somebody starts off with a pet (let's say a 2018 uncommon butterfly wolf) then sends a suggestion to someone else with the 2018 bw on their side and nothing on the other person's side. the other person is supposed to add a pet slightly higher in value, say a 2018 uncommon dog. the original person sending the trade might accept this, and basically continues the cycle on and on getting a slightly better pet every time. i hope this cleared up your question!
