Heya; could you perhaps elaborate a bit on what you mean by 'shaded over'?
There are a few things to keep in mind as a new user to the site.
First, it's worth knowing that new users are initially sorted into a "Newly registered users" group with limited posting and messaging abilities. It's a measure to help us keep the site clean from spam.
Every user needs to have made at least one post and have it be approved by a moderator, and only then they'll be able to post without needing to wait for approval, or use our PM and trade message systems.
You have two approved posts now, so you'll be able to post normally now.
There is one exception, though, and that's posts containing images. We have a system in place that scans posts for images that might come from unsafe sources, so occasionally posts containing images are sorted into our approval queue. This happens much more often with new users, again to check if someone just signed up to spam inappropriate content.
After you've been a member for a while you'll be able to post images a lot more freely, though.
If you aren't given the option to respond to a thread at all, that means the thread in question has been locked.
Sometimes threads get locked because they were spam, sometimes the thread owner decided they no longer wanted to keep it active, and sometimes it's done to old threads that are no longer relevant.
The latter mostly happens with old discussion threads about past months or events.
I hope that helps a bit!^^
