I think it would make much more sense if people were allowed to “trade themselves” and view their trading center and pet groups just like another CS player would, but not actually trade themselves. When I was cleaning up my pet groups and changing the locks on them, my work would have been so much easier if I could see how my groups looked together (and make sure none of my groups were accidentally unlocked), which groups were locked, and which had the WL lock all in the same place. Additionally, changing the default setting may not be a valid way to fix the problem, because many people leave their groups unlocked to “showcase” their pets. Being a CS user, I would much rather have my groups accidentally unlocked than accidentally locked.

A lot of people like to showcase their pets, and this is not to defeat that issue. They can still unlock that group, this is to prevent users getting unwanted trades for their pets they want to keep, that's not a showcase. People can still showcase with this idea <33

Maybe an option for what your default is too, automatically the default can be nobody, but as a player you can change your default to any of the existing settings?

It's a good idea, but I'd love to see if this idea suggestion works or not before that idea. It really is good!
it'll still be set on "no one can make offers" option on default when you haven't changed that setting c:
