Suggestion: Stricter Rules for Bumping Trade Threads

I would support an automated system that did not let a user make a second post in the CS Trades board until x minutes (maybe 5?) have passed. However, I feel that hours is a bit too long.

I really like the idea of it being automated. I think a set time of 15 minutes or so would be reasonable.

Support for this too. Definitely 10-15 minutes perhaps, but for a board that moves as quickly as the CS Trades board I agree that 'hours' is a bit of a long time to wait.

Support, but only support this as an idea that you opt into through your account settings, you can edit to have it bump every 15 mins, 30 mins, or hour; is slightly staggered so that 99 threads don't update instantly, and only works when you have been online 2 or so minutes before it's time for the system to bump.

Ah I think you may be a bit confused. This isn’t about it automatically bumping the thread for you. That would create too much spam with how many users we have.
The suggestion is for it to limit people bumping about every 5+ or so minutes so people aren’t constantly bumping their threads.

And also agreed with you Dama, it shouldn’t be something that limits bumping for an hour or so, but I can see 5 minutes or something like that.

With how busy the site is now and how quickly the trade forum can move in busy times (usually with the same people just re-bumping as soon as their topic falls off the front page) I think a set you can only bump every hour or so would be great!

Maybe they could use some code from the oekaki - where you can mark a thread as new (=bump it) after a certain time. Just according to writing a post. (or maybe only enable answering to a Thread in this topic for mods and allow bumping oekaki-style only if it is code-dable.)

On a website I'm on that uses the same kind of forum code as this one, there's a thing on the bottom of each thread that says 'bump thread'.

Every 24 hours you can click that to bump your thread up and, best of all, it doesn't involve having to make a new reply on the thread.

We actually have this as well on CS, except it's every 6 hours and you can only bump if you're the owner of the thread or the last person to reply, and the post hasn't been bumped before. (:

Support. I say it needs to be at least an hour though, 15 minutes is too short due to the quantity of players here.
