Making Custom Wishlists

Postby huskynerd » Sun Oct 10, 2010 4:14 pm

Okay, I am stupid when it comes to using photo editing programs and have not been able to figure this out. How do I make a nice custom wishlist for say, my dream pets or for items I want?
I only have MS Paint on my desktop. I can download something free if it's really necessary, but I'd prefer to use an online program like those listed here. Most of these appear to imitate the capabilities of Photoshop quite effectively. Problem is, I never learned how to use Photoshop. >_<

I don't know how to get images from the CS site into the image editor (the online ones look like flash, so copy and paste is not helping). I don't know how to make the background of a CS image transparent. Despite briefly fooling around with them, I cannot for the life of me understand layers. Can anyone help me out?

Copy a CS Pet on Photoshop and when you've got it on the page click the Magic Wand Tool. Then use the magic wand tool to click the green or whatever colour background there is. Once you see the dotted line get your biggest size rubber and start erasing. It will not touch the pet because of the magic wand tool. Do this to every pet and plave them on a canvas with the arrow. Hope this helped.

Alternatively you can hit the delete button, once the marquee is around the pet :D Its just a little faster.

I am unfamiliar with these flash editing tools, I had no idea they existed to be frank xD
So I can't help you there. But I'm sure you've heard of GIMP? I don't use it personally as I have photo shop, but I've heard great things and that it is highly comparable.

I'm unsure what it is about layers that confuses you, they are there to make life much easier though, so once you have them figured out, you will love them!
Lets see an example.... Say I create a beautiful background on one layer, then make a new layer and paint a nice looking dog. If I notice a mistake on the dog I can easily erase and fix it up without harming the background, since it is on a completely different layer. And if I decide to trash the dog and start over onit, I can just delete that particular layer and make a new one ^^

Sorry if I've worried anyone. I'm not dead, just too busy to do my usual leisure activities online. Real life always catches up with you lol.

Oh, thank you both, that helped me understand. ^^ I figured out how to work Splashup and am making an item wishlist now, layers included.

Thank you! :)

For making a pet wishlist...is there a way to get image of a CS pet with a transparent background? I think someone told me how to once in another thread but it's since been deleted.
