BELGIAN SHEPHERD DOGS

I would like to suggest a litter featuring the four different coat colors of the Belgian Shepherd Dog with a PPS Schipperke.

In Belgium, the country both breeds originated from, the Belgian Shepherd Dog is classified as one breed differentiated only by coat texture and coloration. However, in many other places each coat type is classified as a separate breed: the Malinois, the Laekenois, the Groenendael, and the Tervuren. Occasionally in European lines you will get a Tervuren puppy out of a Groenendael x Groenendael pairing and vice versa, so it is entirely plausible that in Chicken Smoothie land, you get all four out of one blanket. ;D

You could even reuse the sheepie blanket! X3 Or simply use the Belgium flag.

CHICKEN SMOOTHIE INTERPRETATION

All four breeds can easily stand alone without ever changing the lineart. The long-haired Groenendael and Tervuren can easily be differentiated from the short-haired Malinois and the wire-haired Laekenois in real life, but as it is probably more difficult in Chicken Smoothie I do have some thoughts on that. Because the Laekenois and Groenendael are easily distinguished even via coat color, I will focus on the Tervuren and Malinois first. You will notice that Tervies come in several different colors; they can be the typical fawn and black with variations of red and dark brown [a color they share with the Malinois] or they can be silver and black with a lovely pale gray base. Likewise, some of the Mals get very dark brown and thus can be differentiated in that way without ever changing the lineart [I have never seen a silver Malinois]. I guess longer brushstrokes would help but I literally know nothing about drawing.

The Laekenois would probably be best represented by a reddish or cream dog with faint black points. The Groenendael stands alone as a pure black dog [occasionally with white toe-tips and a spot of white on the chest, but too much white goes against some breed standards] which allows for multiple outcomes of that dog as well. Furthermore, the Groenendael dog and Schipperke dog could potentially come out of the same bobtailed adolescent — black with brown eyes and a bobtail — and the Schipperke could stop at the PPS stage [keeping the bobtail or growing a curly tail; there is some debate about Schipperke tails] while the Groenendael grows to be an adult with a long tail.

All of these dogs would have brown eyes.

So, why the Schipperke?

The Schipperke is like a teeny tiny cousin of the Belgian Sheepdogs, as you will note from the breed standard:
The Schipperke originated in the Flemish regions of Belgium, bred down in size from a black sheepdog called the Leauvenaar. The breed worked as a companion of tradesmen as well as a watchdog and ratter on the river barges, which is where they got the name "Schipperke" since the Flemish word "schip" means boat. Another common nickname for the Schipperke is "Little Captain."

In closing, I feel this litter would please a variety of people: the people who like PPS pets, the people who like pets based on real dogs, the people who like realistic coloring, and the people who like variation between littermates. I hope someone with art skills will consider it! If any of this came across as being rude or too presumptuous, I am really sorry! I just got really excited about the idea. X3
