-pokes head in- Actually, it would. You're asking for the limit to be doubled. (Yes, you're also asking for it to be raised by just one pet, but... 1 x 2 = 2, right? So you're also asking for the limit to be doubled.)

Around 2000-3000 pets are released every pound opening. Right now, with the current 1-per-day limit, that means about 2000-3000 different users can adopt pets every pound opening.

If the limit was raised, then only 1000-1500 different users could adopt pets every opening (because I highly doubt that a large number of people would pass up a chance to adopt an additional pet).

Let's say the Pound opens twice in a 24-hour timeframe (which happens quite a bit). Right now, that means that 4000-6000 different users can adopt pets in a 24-hour timeframe. If the limit was upped, then only 2000-3000 different users would be able to adopt pets in that timeframe.

Yes, the Pound has a lot of pets, but what you're asking for would mean something like the Pound running out of pets twice as fast, or the Pound not opening as often, or the Pound actually starting to seriously run out of pets to put up for adoption, etc.

(Also note that a while ago, the Pound used to have over 400,000 pets in its 'Pets without a group' group. Now, there are less than 200,000. The Pound is already opening with quite a lot of pets fairly often with the current 1-per-day limit, allowing for more users to adopt a pet and be happy.)
