Because kissing/making out isn't the same thing as an explicit sex scene. I believe the main objection is that kissing isn't really something that should be considered inappropriate.

Shouldn't you be focused on. You know. Plots. And exciting details.
And not how much your characters can kiss.
Also, yeah, if I had a kid, I wouldn't want them reading posts about characters hardcore making out.
Well, two people showing affection for each other can be an important part of any storyline. I mean, take pretty much any book or movie out there and you'll find some kind of romantic scene. Sure, if that's all the roleplay is about, there might be something wrong, but not if it's just an occasional thing.
But I don't actually roleplay, so I can't really say much about it. I just agree that the new rules are beginning to infringe on freedom a bit too much and it's not necessary, and I can understand why people are upset.
