Finding Pets You Dont Already Own

Since someone will probably bring it up:

I'm pretty sure that the difference between the possible coding for searching for all unowned pets and adding all unknown pets is that with searching, I *think* the system just does a query or something--it just looks for the pets. It doesn't do anything else.

But then with adding, the system not only searched for pets, it has to make changes in the database (in order to change people's wishlists)--and that could potentially be a lot.

While searching might place strain on the server, I think it would only do so if a lot a lot a lotttt of people searched at once (such as at the beginning of the release of such a feature, but probably not any time else). With adding pets, I have a feeling CS is gonna crash with how many people will use that function if it ever came out (which it won't, since it's been denied).

... please keep in mind that I could be wrong about all of this, given that I'm only a teenager who is looking to get some kind of computer programming job in the future. XD I know a bit, but not a lot.

Im not going to lie, I am slightly confused about what your trying to say, my idea isnt a search function, its a page just like any of the others you see on the wishlist tab, it just holds pets that you don't have on your wishlist specifically

That's what I meant by "searching" xD That's what I would imagine that the system does: it would search for the pets that you don't already own, and then show them to you (which is what you're suggesting), right?

This would be so helpful. I'm trying to get a whole site collection and I just checked to see if I'd accidently traded away pets I only had one one of, and after spending ages going through the whole archive, I've added a lot more pets than I thought I would. Seeing which pets I don't own without having to go through them all sounds like a good idea.
