Monthly Pets

Postby blondiealiyah » Sun May 03, 2026 10:42 pm

Sorry if this has already been answered but with the pets from the hatchery, 2nd gen and other species, is the specific species in the images that month? Not sure if that makes sense. This month (May) there’s an image of chickens in the 2nd generation folder, does that mean it will be chicken this month? Or do we have to wait until the pets grow to know what species they are?

Thank you in advance!

i may not be understanding you exactly, but hopefully this helps! the images on the main adopt page (this one) are always the same, so might not reflect the adopts - for instance, the 'rodents' button has a rat on it, but we got guinea pigs this month. on the individual pages, the display pets are just possible pet species in that category (e.g. other species shows foxes and monkeys, but the pets for this month are otters). however, you can usually tell what type of pets we are getting because the newborns look different, and the adoption pages show you what different newborns look like (the exception being that eastern dragon eggs and chicken eggs use the same lineart) you can look through the archive at past litters to see what the newborns look like, and that will help you identify what type of pet they are!
for second gen pets however, we are always shown the parents, and the pets will be the same species as the parent! so yes, since the parents of this 2nd gen litter are chickens, they will be chickens this month!

Actually the adopt pages (or specifically the hatchery and 'other species' pages) will always show the pet species that is available to adopt that month if there is an image for them. So for the hatchery page if you refresh the page you will see that one image will stay on macaw and the other will switch between chameleons, dragons, and chickens. Thats because this month's adopts are macaws (you can also see that the newborn lineart matches the newborn on the macaw example image). The 'other species' page doesn't have an otter example image so both images switch randomly between deer, monkeys, and foxes right now. I believe snakes and seals also don't have example images right now so those will not show up, but any other regular monthly species will.

The other pages only have a couple of possible species so both are shown at all times, like the horses and ponies image doesn't change since its only ever horses and ponies. The rodents page one is also one that does change, it just shows all the normal monthly rodents, so all you need to do to figure out which species it is, is compare the newborn to the ones in the image. The 2nd gen page doesn't change because it could be any species, but the parents are always shown on the adoption image.
