Realtime ‘Already Taken’ Tag in Pound is Broken

UPDATE: Title change. I’m absolutely confident the tag is broken at this point.

Despite recent pound improvements and the addition of the real-time ‘already taken’ pop-up, I’ve been having continuous issues with the real-time popup not working and numerous instances of a supposedly unclaimed pet directing me to the ‘Sorry, this pet has already been adopted’ page (Normally accompanied by lag spikes while opening the pound, loading pet images, and processing adoptions.) I’ve noticed a significant uptick in occurrences of this on all devices since the issues with the presumed AI scraper raid, which I don’t think has been fully solved since I still see thousands of guests online regularly despite attempts to combat it. Was curious if anyone else has been having these issues?

I've been having this issue, too! I came here hoping someone else had mentioned it, or that there was some acknowledgement, at least. Been broken since at least yesterday. Most of the time, the already taken doesn't show up at all, but it showed up on a single pet when I left a spare tab sitting for like, half an hour. I really hope they can fix it.

I also had this issue during the most recent pound opening! the already taken tags did not pop up on the pets unless i refreshed the page :(

Adding a new experience I had this pound opening: On mobile, absolutely no lag, clicked a pet that was supposedly not taken, and was immediately redirected to the ‘This pet has already been taken’ screen. Unless I got extremely unlucky and someone clicked at the exact same time as me, there’s no way this was simply an issue with the pound processing clicks on the same pet. Either the realtime pop-up is experiencing serious delays or something in the code is broken entirely

I've experienced this on both mobile and PC even with a pretty un-laggy pound. all 15 pets show up onto my screen and aside from if I entirely refresh the page, the "already taken!" and grayed out button will not show up on any of the pets. if I click on a taken pet, I get the redirect you are talking about

Just experienced this in the pound today! I had a pet appear on my page for a few minutes and at no point did it appear with "already taken" only for me to click it and be redirected to the "sorry, this pet is taken page".

Did they also undo the change where pets were added over the course of a couple minutes instead of all at once? It really feels that way but I have no proof of it being true

With this many user reports of the same issue and my own personal observation during pound openings, I can confidently say it isn’t just a lag issue; The realtime tag is completely broken, and I haven’t seen it properly appear once since I started specifically looking for it. It’s functionally the same as the old tag in that it only appears if you’ve been redirected to the ‘sorry, this pet has already been adopted’ screen. If I had to hazard a guess, this seems like a consequence of pound pets no longer being visible and the tag needing to ‘see’ which pets are/aren’t still there to tag them appropriately.
Staff needs to look into this and any other potential bugs that arose when hiding pound pets, as I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more.
