I want to start a new art contest, [still need help]

So last time I heald a contest everyone was like “hey dumb dumb, your first place is worth more than your second place” and I was like “oop” so now I want to have a new contest only I want some feedback before I do. PLEASE BE A MEAN AS POSSIBLE, SUGAR COATING THINGS WONT HELP ME I HAVE AUSTIM.

All the pets in this group, lmk if I should add more, or how much I should put in each cadigory. My plan is to do 1st though 8th place with all partipants getting at least one pet (after 8th, I’ll give them one surprise pet so everyone who enters at least gets something. I have duplicates of some of the bunnies from the Easter event I can add (the trade eggs in ones) as well as some of the store pets from this month, and the main reason they aren’t in the group is they are all in my unsorted and I let that get hundreds of pages long. Whoops.

Not 100% sure how much this guy is worth, but he’s an omg so rare and I see him on peoples dreamy wishlist alot so I’m guessing he’s a high vaule specimen. The thing is though if I only get like 2 entries I’m going to be LIVID soon you guys think that I don’t have a good enough prize pool to risk giving this pet away and not getting at least ten entries, let me know and I ethier will add more prizes or alternatively just not put him in at all.


Lastly, I am an artist more or less so I was thinking of offering my art as well as a prize? Mabye? Would that be weird? I can’t tell.

The Kirin/Longma is worth 20-25 MA or 2 to 2.5 nons (4000-5000c$). It is a Tier 1 list pet and is worth a lot. Source

You could specify in your rules that there must be 10 entries for first place to recieve this pet, otherwise first place will recieve a different pet (make sure to specify which pet would replace it), although that might deter people from entering. Sorry, was incorrect!

Having your art as a prize is a cool idea, but you might want to have it as an option that winners can choose to accept or take pets instead, since not everyone is interested in recieving art, and you'll likely get more entries with the option to choose.

As per point four of the art competiotion rules, quoted below:

”You can't list any prizes that aren't definitely going to be given out. This means you can no longer list conditional prizes (e.g. grand prizes) which you'll only give out if you get a particularly good entry. Every prize listed must be awarded at the end of the contest if the entry conditions are met.”

Once a prize is listed in your contest, it must be awarded at the end of the contest to the winners, regardless of how many entries you receive.

That means you cannot say “this Kirin will only be given out if there are 10 entries” or swap it for a different pet based on turnout. If you list it as a prize, then whoever places 1st (or whichever placement you assigned it to) will receive it once the contest ends.

If you’re worried about low participation, here are your options:

- You can wait to list that Kirin until you’re sure you’re happy to part with it regardless of entry numbers.
- You can close the contest early, but you still have to award all prizes that were listed at the time of entry to the people who entered. For example, if only one person entered, they would receive the 1st place prize.
- You can keep the contest open and keep advertising it to get more entries. Contests can be extended up to a year from when they were first posted.

This rule exists so that participants know exactly what they are entering for and aren’t disappointed if conditions change after they’ve already put in the effort.
