The Zens
The wolf-sized creature paddled through the water, letting it's gills take in the sweet, sweet liquid. He swam up to the bank and shook himself off, the water flying off his fir. He let his gills get adjusted to breathing the high-humidity air and walked inside a nearby cave. He was greeted by a single zen pup, bounding up to him.
"Father you are back!" He said and started licking the adult Zen's leg with his forked tongue. "Will you tell me a story?"
The adult Zen chuckled "After you eat your food." He said and motioned to a small fish sitting on a nearby rock. The little pup excitedly bounded over to the fish and gobbles it up, as it was eager to hear the story. The adult zen lay on the ground and took a deep breath through his mouth. Then he started talking.
"A thousand years ago, when the first Zen walked the land, the world was peaceful. The Skylen and the Dera lived together in harmony with the Zen." The young pup shuttered at the word Skylen. The large predator sometimes ate Zen pups.
"But Father, why was there peace?" The pup asked. He father looked at the pup and continued.
"The world was at peace because of the Fera. The mythical ghostlike beings that ballanced the world. But ever good has an equil and opposite evil. The Aref. The being of extreme evil. Even the name is the opposite of Fera."
The little pup whimpered the growlike whimper of a Zen pup. His father liked the pup with his forked tonge.
"The Fera had kept the Aref at bay until one day a huge battle broke out. Forests were burned. Mountains arose. great conflict shook the World. That was when the Fera left the World and took the Aref with them. Leaving the creatures of the World to fend for themselves. That is why now the Skylen and the Dera and the Zen all fight. Because of that we must make our own way in the World."
The Zen looked at his shivering son. That story must have scared him. He thought and licked the little pup again. He would never let anything happen to his little pup. NEVER.
About the Planet

The Planet on which the Zens live has no name. The just refer to it as "The World". We refer to it as "The Planet of the Zen". (However, this may change. The planet has had names, but they have been lost.) It has many oceans, except they are all freshwater oceans, meaning Zens can breathe in them and creatures can drink the water. Zens live all over the planet. There are different prey areas all around the World, but one thing all Zens eat is fish (I'll go into that later). There are also Aquatic Zens, or Zens that spend their whole life in water. There are Imperial Zens too, and they are more deadly.
About the Zens

Zens are not wolves. They have fir that can be any color (Although they usually have coats that are similar to it's enviroment). They have no nose, but their forked tonge works just like a snake's: Collecting scent molicules from the air. They have gills on the sides of their ribcage, allowing them to breath underwater. When they have to go on land, it takes a second for their gills to adjust to the air, which has a large quantity of water in it. They are usually loners, but sometimes are in small family groups. The only time they create packs is when there is a time of trial (like a flood, earthquake, war, famine, ect.). Aquatic Zens are just like normal Zens, except they have adaped a webbing between their toes, which are really spaced out. They use their glowing lures on their head to attract fish, which seem to be drawn to the light. To catch other prey, however, it uses different methods.
There are three kinds of Zen: Normal, Aquatic, and Imperial
Normal
Normal Zens are the average Zen, basicly the First. It is a good swimmer and a good runner, it will eat anything it can catch. They always like to play, expecially young, and get along together very well. It is about the size of a horse.
Aquatic
Aquatic Zens usually have longer lures on their heads. They have webbing in their toes and their tailes have adapted into large rudders, making them able swimmers, but terrible on land. They fear the Terr, as they can eat a ven in two bites. They are slightly larger then a Normal Zen.
Imperial

Imperial Zens are the largest of all Zen species. Their tails and lures are longer to, even reletive to their body size. Their tail spike has adapted to be a more leathal wepon, but making it heavyer. Imperial Zens usually are very regal, too. Normal and Aquatic Zens think highly of Imperial Zens. However, these Zens cannot swim that well.
Cross-Breeds
Normal + Aquatic
Breed Name: Amphibious
Amphibious Zens can have any combination of tails and lures from their parents. They usually spend their time in water, but it depends on what kind of tail they have. They can grow from Normal sized to Aquatic sized, and have a risk of mutation.
Normal + Imperial
Breed Name: Princely
Princely Zens can have any combination of tails and lures from their parents. They spend most of their time on land. They are happily accepted by Normal Zens, because they think Imperial Zens are kingly. Imperial Zens are kind of iffy, but if they prove themselves they are accepted wordlessly. They can grow from Normal sized to Imperial sized and have a slight chance of mutation or defects that can cause injury, but that is nothing to worry about.
Aquatic + Imperial
Breed Name: Bay
Bay Zens can have any combination of lures and tails from their parents. Bay Zens are usually mistreated. Imperial Zens thing lowly of Aquatic Zens because Imperials can't swim that well. Bay Zens usually spend their time alone, far away from other Zens. They have a connection to the ocean, but also to the land. They have a large chance of mutation or defects that may cause injury.
Aquatic + Amphibious or Bay
Breed Name: Ocean (for Amphibious) and Sea (for Bay)
Ocean and Sea Zens are so similar, but they may have different legnth Lures/Tails. They spend most of their time in the ocean, but not as much as Aquatics do. They have a medium risk of mutation or defects.
Princely + Imperial
Breed Name: Mountain
Mountain Zens spend their time up in the mountain, away from the shore. They are kind and will help any Zen that comes their way. There is a small chance of mutation or defects.
Mountain + Normal
Breed Name: Desert
These Zen live in remote desert areas. They have learned to cope with the heat and the small amount of water. However, the deserts are not that big, and so these Zens are rare.
Princely + Mountain
Breed Name: Gypsy
Gypsy Zens are wanderers. The go anywhere, tirelessly. They don't make many friends, and when they do, usually not for long.
The Other Creatures
The Skylen

These large dargerous creatures are carnivorus. They eat Dera mostly, but they also eat fish, Terr, juvinile Ha, and Zen Pups.
Ha

The huge lumbering Ha are herbivourous. They live in the desert regions of the Planet of the Zen, but may also move into the lightly forested regions. They use their large modified teeth to scrape vegitation off the ground, then they tip their heads back to eat the vegitation. They live in herds of up to 50 Ha. The adults can use their tails to fend off predators like Skylen and Zen, but juviniles cannot.

The Wooly Ha (Distant relative of the Ha) live in colder climates near and on the poles.
The Dera

The Dera are small horselike creatures that live in herds of up to 100. They prefer to live on open plains. They are herbivores, but they have razor-sharp hooves that can gouge deep wounds in predators and other Dera. They can live anywhere from the forests to the tundra, but they prefer warmer conditions. They eat through their hooves and the sopts on their sides are glowing eyes. Their two tail-tips are silimar to that found on a zen, and they have gills. Their horns and tails are just used for show.
The Terr

The Terr are large omnivorous creatures that only live in the water. They usually have a diet of plants that live on the bottom of the oceans, but they also eat fish or other meant if they can find or catch them.
