What are "Derpy Birds"?
Derpy Birds are an egg-shaped species of bird. They have little round bodies and big eyes with pupils that can't move. Derpy Birds LOVE their human companions, and because the birds don't have any natural predators in the wild, they have no fear of other animals. Younger birds are much thinner and better able to carry their own weight in flight, so they are often seen flying over the ocean by themselves or with a few friends. During the summer, many cruise ship passengers get the opportunity to engage with these birds as they land themselves on board for a free ride. By the end of the season, many birbs have grown to full size and have attached themselves to a person, claiming them as their own!

Derpy Birds are genderless, and have both male and female reproductive organs. Many of their owners do assign their birbs pronouns such as he/him, she/her, or they just keep their birb as a they/them. The easiest way to find a Derpy Bird is to find their eggs. They only lay one, but they lay them all the time! These eggs are everywhere in the wild, but not all of them hatch as Derpy Birds do not tend to them. After laying an egg, the Derpy Bird continues on with their day. The egg will take 12 days to hatch, and will only do so under specific conditions. There must be proper humidity, temperature, and environmental conditions. Thankfully, there is a team of devoted scientists that have put together a hatchery from eggs they have found in the wild.

Welcome to the Hatchery!

Welcome to our cute little hatchery! Our groups of scientists scavenge the forests day and night looking for eggs laid by Derpy Birds. Remember, birbs lay these eggs constantly but never tend to them, that is why we must gather them and expose them to the correct conditions before they can hatch. Many times, the patterns and colors of the shell mirrors the colors of the bird inside. When put under a flashlight, scientists can often make out the general shape and rarities that may be inside!

Well, me and the other workers here will be sure to update this page with adoptable eggs or baby birbs!

My name is Ebony. My job as an Executive Scientist and a Hatchery/Pound Director is to make sure I get as many birbs rescued and out of here as quickly as possible. This is my companion Sprite, Sprite was one of the very first birds I rescued. Below, you will find all of our adoptable birbs and eggs!

As a guest artist, your role will be a “scientist.” You will scavenge the forests for abandoned birbs and their eggs, and you will upload them here! As an executive scientist (permanent guest artist), you will be more likely to find birbs of higher rarities!
