||Section||Common Creatures
||Name||Taiga
||Why do you want this animal||I was scrolling down the kennels and I completely fell in love with this character. I can't remember ever falling in love with a character so quickly. I've been looking for a zebra striped character and I really love the color pallet that iBrevity used. I can easily see him in one of my stories (I can PM who ever needs it the website for proof of use). And I really feel a deep connection with him, something that is hard for me to find (even some of my current characters I don't feel as deeply about them as this boy).
||What will you do for this animal||He'll be the head of one of my bloodlines (which also means the head of his tribe as well as head of a sub-species of mine). Which means that Taiga will be one of the main characters in a story and may occasionally be used in a roleplay (if that's alright). He'll also find a mate, which will be played out in the story. I will also draw him and get as much art of him as possible.
||History/Background||He was just a normal Amdis, until he was forced to step up and lead his tribe, ready or not.
||Art||http://untamed--spirit.deviantart.com/a ... -186876513||Other||Hope you don't mind me not using the current form and adding my normal form onto this (I figured it was pointless since my add on form has all that was added to this form and more). ;3
||Name||Taiga
"That's me."||Namesake||Also known as the boreal forest, it is a biome with coniferous forests. It is also the place where he was born, the place his father's tribe, now his tribe, lives.
"Yeah, I'm named after the place I was born. Such a nice idea, huh?"||Nickname(s)||Tai, Tazz, Satan's Assassin
"But you can call me Taiga or possibly risk your health...depending on how much I like you."||Age||Around seven (7) years old (he'd be like 21 in human/anthro form), young adult.
"I'm actually really young, especially considering I'm the head of the tribe."||DoB (Date of Birth)||June 05
"My birthday has no significant importance."||Origin||||Mother's side <3||She was a domestic border collie living on a farm in Canada. Her mother decided to go out on her own and ended up caught in a blizzard. Unable to make her way home, she would have frozen to death if she hadn't been saved by a peculiarly colored/patterned canine.
||Father's side <3||His father lived his whole life in the Taiga. He was the son of a tribe leader, as well as a Spitz mutt. He met his mother during a blizzard and led her back to his tribes camp. Her home could not be found again, so upon finding out about her story of death, rebirth, and blood bondage, he gave her a place in the tribe.
"Just a little bit of family history."||Patronus||Solstice
"She's my protector...it comes with the whole 'earning your place' thing."||Mate <3||None, yet. Some say he fancies his patronus, but he denies.
"I do not fancy anyone."||Gender||Male
"That seems pretty obvious to me."||Species||Amdis Spits/Border Collie mutt (he is a mix of more breeds, but these two are most important)
"Nothing much to say. My father was as Spitz mutt and my mother was a Border Collie. Both were Amdis, which in turn makes me Amdis as well."||Habitat||Various parts of the Taiga.
"I travel a lot, as do the warriors, but my tribe's camp stays in place unless we are in serious danger there."||Diet||Large herbivorous mammals (such as moose, reindeer/caribou, elk, etc.), rodents (squirrels, beavers, hare, etc.), small carnivores (sometimes foxes, mainly weasels), fish, birds, (occasionally) bear cubs or a bear carcass, and (if desperate) insects.
"With freezing winters and short summers, you can't be picky. You eat what you can find."||Pelt (Natural)||Born with all of the dark brown, brown, and cream markings.
"I got the other markings when I 'earned' them."||Pelt (Unnatural)||The blue zebra markings give off a glow at night/in the dark.
"Like everyone else in the tribe, I had to 'earn' my markings."||Eyes||He was born with light blue eyes, but when he 'earned' his markings, his 'true eye color(s)' showed. They change colors, a trait that's very rare in the Amdis. Most Amdis have eyes that stay one color because their eyes are a 'window' to their souls. However, this does not mean you can tell an Amdis' intentions from their eye color, something Taiga learned the hard way, as each color means something different for each Amdis.
||Neutral/Bored/Calm -.-|| Light blue (darker blue pupils)||In love/Lust <3|| Bright blue (can't remember what it's called, no pupils)||Embarrassed ^^;;|| Hot pink||Angry D:<|| Dark purple||Joyful :D|| Light Blue (no pupils)||Excited/Squee ^O^|| Yellow||Surprised 8O|| Lime/bright green||Shocked o.O|| Bright blue (can't remember what it's called, pupils present)||Malicious >:D|| Dark blue (no pupils)||Upset o-o|| Gray blue||Depressed :'(|| Silver (no pupils)"A 'gift' given to me when I 'earned' my markings."||Voice||Strong and dominate, but gentle and caring, as well as understanding.
"I honestly don't pay any attention to my own voice. I spend my time paying attention to others voice...to figure out their intentions."||Theme Song(s)||"There's no 'I' in team-" Taking Back Sunday
Taiga had to kill his best friend and he also had to kill his brother. They betrayed him and his father, so Taiga did what his father could not do. He did what he had to.
"Leave out all the Rest-" Linkin Park
His parents are dead because his brother and friend betrayed them. And he had to kill them. He still needs Solstice's help to leave behind some reason for others to miss him.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah."||Personality|| Romantically, he is normally quite hard to understand. These are a few of the things you can expect from Taiga.
Distant. He tries to keep himself away from others to avoid any heartache. Taiga knows what heartbreak is like and he doesn't like it. Being distant is a way to keep not only himself from heartache, but others as well because he knows he often hurts others without meaning to.
Awkward. Taiga can be a tad awkward around someone he has a romantic interest in, or someone who has romantic feelings for him. He feels rather strange around others who have feelings for him that he does not return. And, unfortunately, most females seem to, for reasons he, himself doesn't understand, develop feelings for him.
Unsure/Nervous. Often times, Taiga finds himself unsure of how to act around someone he cares for or around someone who cares for him. He also finds himself questioning his judgment, making him even more nervous.
However, he has all the qualities of a great leader. Here are a few of the many, many traits of a leader.
Strong. Both physically and mentally. It takes a lot to cause Taiga's mental state to break (wording sounds...very bad). A lot is also needed to break him physically, as he has a lot of strength and knows how to use it for maximum advantage.
Quick. Mentally and physically. Taiga can come up with a solution for almost anything in a matter of seconds. He also has really good reflects and reaction time.
Encouraging. He's very encouraging when it comes to his tribe, especially the young pups and the apprentices. He can help anyone get through a rough time. Taiga encourages some, like most warriors, by pushing them.
Gentle. Taiga knows when he needs to be gentle. He is often very gentle with the pups and elderly, but not so much with his warriors because he knows they need to be pushed a little.
Compassionate. He doesn't ignore the pain of others. Taiga cares for everyone in his tribe. Often feels very sympathetic for the loners that tag along in the Taiga with no one to help them hunt in the winter. And contrary to most of his enemies' beliefs, he
does show sympathy for his enemies and their suffering.
(these two go together)
Passionate. Taiga, unlike so many of his predecessors, has a real passion for his job. He doesn't lead his tribe only because he must; he leads his tribe because he
cares and wants to make a difference.
Endurance. Incredible mental and physical endurance combined means he can endure almost anything, a perfect quality for a leader. He can endure the long, cold winters as well as any ambushes the neighboring tribes may plan.
Consideration. Unlike so many other leaders, he
listens to his tribe. Not to say that Taiga always does what they want, but he does consider everything and everyone. He takes the elders' opinions into most consideration because he knows they have more experience than anyone else. Taiga also listens to little troubles within the tribe, such as a new mother questioning how to raise her children, and offers them whatever advice possible. He also
'listens' his surroundings, something very useful in the snowy winters, to anticipate where food can be found and when the best time for an attack on enemies will be.
Guiding. He guides his tribe in this direction and that, weaving in and out of danger. It helps that Taiga has a very good sense of direction.
Persuasive. He can also be very persuasive. Taiga often uses this as an advantage when talking to his tribe about a battle plan they do not agree with.
Dominate. Even though Taiga can be very caring and gentle, he is very dominate. He doesn't like anyone stepping out of place, especially if they are challenging his leadership. Taiga can be very harsh when dealing with someone who has forgotten their place.
And, when his guard is down and he's with friends, he can be very different.
Funny. He's always the one to crack a joke. And they never fail to be hilarious. Sometimes, Taiga will say something that makes everyone laugh and then he doesn't understand what's so funny.
Sarcastic. Sarcasm is very common when around him. It's often used to mock his friends.
There are also traits he has carries with him at all times.
Witty. He can use his words in a very apt, clever, and amusing way. His actions are also strikingly clever, stylish, and original in both design and execution.
Smarta** (hope you don't mind the starred out curse word). He is rather smart and tends to use it to annoy others that he dislikes.
Cruel. Taiga can be very cruel and unforgiving to both traitors and his enemies. He often treats traitors more harshly than his enemies. Taiga can also be very cruel when dealing with someone he dislikes.
Suspicious. Being suspicious of most everyone has it's advantages and it's disadvantages. He finds it very difficult to trust anyone, even family and friends, causing him to be very suspicious of most everyone. However, it's not only others that Taiga doesn't trust, ever since the betrayal of his friend and brother he doesn't trust his own judgment either.
Decisive. Taiga is very decisive. He normally doesn't dwell on something for too long, but does get others opinions before acting. Often times, he has already made up his mind before he asks his tribes opinion on something, but his mind can be changed by their reasoning.
Opinionated. He is very opinionated and often doesn't like others going against his opinions. Taiga is unwilling to change his strongly held opinions and is always ready to express his opinion. He holds to them stubbornly, unreasonably dismissing others' views on the matter(s).
Vigilant. In the place and times that he and his tribe live in, Taiga must always be alert. He pays great attention to his surroundings. As he knows well, something little, such as birds taking flight, could be the difference between life and death. Taiga often takes great care in remembering what is normal in each part of the Taiga during each season, helping him to keep his tribe from harm's way.
Secretive. Taiga doesn't reveal much about his past and keeps many, many secrets from his tribe. Such as his other
'job.'Charismatic. With his magnetic personality, he finds it very easy to gain advantage in most situations. He often inspires enthusiasm, interest, or affection in others by means of personal charm or influence. This also means he can penetrate his enemies defenses not only by means of force, but also by
(Influential goes along with Charismatic)Influential. Taiga is able to influence not only members in his tribe, but also his enemies. He can often affect the thoughts or actions of others using his own actions or by a force of his personality.
(Cunning goes along with Charismatic)Cunning. He can be very sly and cunning when trying to gain the upper hand in a situation that his enemy has an advantage. He also uses his cunning abilities when trying to convince his tribe of something that he, himself, knows is not true or when discussing issues with his tribe.
There are several other traits he has and some of these might not be under the right categories (his leader qualities, romantic qualities, friend qualities, and qualities he always carries).

'In the Winter I stand,
my paws frozen.
Frost biting at my nose,
waiting for an old friend.
A story of betrayal,
of love and blood.
Nervous and jumpy I stood,
snow falling from above.
Ice running through my veins,
as I remember our bonding story.
A story of betrayal,
of love and blood.
I stand on the lake,
frozen over and cold under my paws,
I await the presence of my old friend,
my brown fur ruffling in the wind.
A story of betrayal,
of love and blood.
I'd yet to earn my markings,
and I wondered what he'd done to earn his,
Did he kill an enemy,
or maybe lead a tribe?
A story of betrayal,
of love and blood.
There he stood before my eyes,
And under the moonlight,
I saw him as a leader,
of an enemy tribe.
A story of betrayal,
of love and blood.'How could a world so perfect crumble like the leaves beneath my paws? I don't understand what happened. If I try to save you, my world collapses around me. If I leave you here to die, I, myself, will surely die inside. You've always been my brothers, my friends, but now you're my enemies. I either join your tribe and go against everything Father believed in, or I kill you both along with my soul...
||The Power of Three||I had one brother, Krone, but our friend, Nep, was like a brother to both of us. My brother and I were the only survivors of our litter and we'd been completely thrilled when we met another pup closer to our age. His name was Nep, a dark colored pup with no siblings. Soon after Krone and I befriended him, the three of us went everywhere together. Some of the warriors called it,
'The Power of Three,' although, at the time, none of us knew why.
--
Nep, like my brother and I, often dreamed of earning his markings. Today, a warm and sunny day in the Taiga, the three of us shared our stories about earning our markings.
"I'm going to be the lead warrior and I'm going to kill the leader of an enemy tribe! That's how I'm going to earn my markings." Nep barked happily. Krone strutted in front of us as he told us his story.
"I'm going to grow up strong and be the leader of the tribe. And because I'm the leader of a tribe, I'll earn my markings! Dad told me that unless I was exiled or killed that I'd take over his spot as leader." He smirked at me, bragging silently about being able to be the leader.
"So, what about you?" Nep asked me. And, truth be told, I had no idea how I was going to earn my markings.
"Well, I don't really know how I'm going to earn my markings. But I'd like it to be something nice, like saving an elder or something like that." I felt embarrassed as I said this.
"Why?" Krone asked as both of them laughed.
||Present||I sighed, watching a cloud of white smoke come from my mouth. I was standing on a lake, frozen over and cold beneath my paws. The temperature was well below zero, but still I waited for my friend. Frost bit at my nose and the cold stung my eyes as I stared at the white horizon. My paws were ice as I took a step forward. Anxious to see my old friend again, I stared harder at the horizon for any sign of life.
Snow was falling from above, but still I awaited the presence of my friend. I had given him my word I would meet him here tonight and I wasn't going to back out now. It would feel wrong of me to leave now, I was already here and I knew my friend would be on his way. Besides, I was interested in hearing the story of how he gained his markings. I felt oddly disappointed as I thought back to the day we talked about earning our markings. Most everyone in my tribe had already earned their markings, but not me. How was it that I was the lead warrior and, no matter how many battles I fought, I hadn't gained my markings yet?
A cold gust of wind blew. I closed my eyes and leaned forward, enjoying it.
"I always swore ice ran through your veins." I spun around to face the familiar voice. And there, under the moonlight, I saw the face of my enemy. It was then I knew why I hadn't earned my markings yet. I must first kill Nep. From behind came another familiar voice, this time of my own blood.
"I thought you would have your markings by now, being the lead warrior and all." His voice was snide and he walked up beside Nep.
"I told you I would gain my markings by becoming a leader, didn't I? And Nep told you he would gain his markings by becoming a lead warrior, which he has." Krone's evil, tribal-like markings glowed red in the dark and matched his glowing eyes.
Would I have to kill my own brother as well?
||Snow Bank||I stood beside Nep and Krone, ready to race, on the snowy bank of the frozen over lake.
"Go!" Father yelled and we all took off. I might not have been the strongest, but I was without a doubt the fastest. I reached the bank first, miles ahead of both of the others. I started running back towards them and they tackled me together.
Krone and Nep buried me in a pile of snow. My mother and father stood by a tree, watching us play. The three of us ran underneath the single oak tree with knotted branches reaching out over the lake. It was the only tree of it's kind in the forest that my tribe had ever seen. Father and Mother bumped the tree as hard as they could and snow fell on top of all of us. We went on playing and goofing off.
||Present||"Brother, I do not wish to harm you. Please, I give you this offer because you are blood and I still care for you...Kill father and join us." Krone took a step forward, his malicious eyes pleading with me.
"I will never join you; I won't betray father and our tribe. Have you forgotten where you belong, where you came from?" I growled. I knew this would get ugly if I didn't leave now, but there was something intriguing about this whole thing.
Nep took a step closer to me and my ears flicked in curiosity.
"Have you forgotten when I saved you, Krone, and your father from that fire? I've only ever cared for you and your father, trust me. He's getting old and being relieved of his job would be best for him." It was funny, but Nep almost had me convinced that he cared about my father.
"So what, relieving him of his job means relieving him of his life? Who died and made you one of the gods? Cause I must've missed it."||Red Moon||I lay, my eyes closed, listening to the shallow breathing of Solstice. Ever since my brother and Nep disappeared, Solstice and I had become inseparable. Because of her I had a purpose in life, a reason to fight for the tribe. Solstice, like most of the others, had gained her markings already and she often teased me for not having my markings. I sighed, opening one eye to peer at her.
Suddenly a loud, shrill cry pierced the silent air. Scrambling to my feet, and, beside Solstice, I exited the den. I could barely make out dark figures under the red light of the lunar eclipse. How could I not have expected this? Any
good warrior would have anticipated an attack on a lunar or solar eclipse. Blood already paved the ground as I raced towards two large fighting figures. I couldn't let my father be killed by this unknown figure.
I leaped over my father, the force of my weight hitting him caused the dark figure to fall backwards. Staring into his blood red I eyes I growled and bit down onto his neck. The dark canine reminded me of someone...but who? He struggled and, because I was distracted upon noticing another of the canines had come to finish the job on my father, I let go. I sprang onto the other canine and dug my claws into his back. My father was free now, but it was too late to battle. The canine got loose of my grip and retreated with the rest of his tribe.
With a blood soaked muzzle and blood soaked paws, I padded towards my den. I had a feeling of accomplishment. I'd survived my first battle...but where was Solstice? Frantically I paced the camp, searching for her. Turning over bodies here and there. Finally it occurred to me to call out her name.
"Solstice?" Relieved when she answered,
"Taiga! Tazz, I'm over here." I dashed to her side, glade that she, too, had survived her first battle. Solstice was laying on her side licking a deep gash on her shoulder.
"Oh, Solstice..." I gasped at the sight of her. Both of us had suffered injuries, but it looked as if she'd been mauled by a bear. One of her back legs had been pulled out of socket, so Solstice couldn't walk.
I laid down beside her and helped clean her wounds.
||Present||"Please, Tai, consider our offer. Your tribe will fall, whether it's at your paws or ours." Something in Krone's eyes -desperation- made me want to take him up on it, but I didn't. Instead I snorted in disgust,
"You are not my brother; you are a traitor and a monster and you do not deserve to call me by a name my family calls me!" Krone looked disappointed.
"It's no wonder you haven't earned your stripes yet. It's going to happen either way, one way or another, so why not be the one to take the credit?" Nep studied me as Krone spoke.
They both turned to walk away,
"When the time comes, you'll parish with your coward of a father." Nep growled over his shoulder. I leaped at the dark lead warrior and landed on his back. I dug my claws deep into his back and tried to bite down on his neck, but I was soon pinned to the ground by Krone. He snapped at me and growled six words in my ear,
"You're just like Father...a coward."MAJOR WIP, didn't want to miss the code drop.
