EDIT:
I found this on the old kitsubi thread

Kitsubis are relatives of the Kitsune, the nine
tailed foxes. But a Kitsubi only got two tails,
therefore it got a 'bi' at the end instead of 'ne'.
The 'bi' stands for binary as well as for the 'bi' in
'chibi', which means 'little'.
