Appearance
Calibrites are very small, averaging at the size of about a chihuahua. They usually weigh
between 5 to 11 pounds, rarely any more. They have pointed ears, small paws, and a skinny
snout. Upon their tails, they have a variation of spots, all in which glow. They also have
two long antennae starting just behind their eyes. On the tip is a a glowing bulb, which
matches the coloration of the spots amongst their tails. Calibrites have very small mouths,
which makes them almost not visible to those looking at them.
Coloration
The coloration of Calibrites varies; it can be from bright colors to natural colors. Their
luminescent spots and antennae, though, are usually blues, greens, or yellows, or any
bright color that will stand out most during the night.
Habits
Calibrites are nocturnal, meaning they only come out at night. Their luminescent tails and
antennae help them see in the darkness. Usually traveling in small groups, it's not common
to find more than 3 or 4 Calibrites together. They aren't exactly loners, but not particularly
pack animals. Not staying in one place longer than a few days at most, Calibrites are usually
found traveling. During the daytime hours, they're usually sleeping within hollowed logs or
ditches they find amongst their journeys.
Habitat
A home for a Calibrite is within a dense forest, with many trees and foliage. The undergrowth
gives them a place to hide, and makes it easier to travel without being spotted.
Diet
Calibrites are omnivores, though they don't usually eat anything bigger than a few insects.
They mostly stick to plants: berries, leaves, and sometimes grass. If they're up to it and
the chance arises, they will go after some insects, such as various kinds of beetles.
Breeding
Calibrites are creatures that mate for life. Once they reach about 3 years of age, they
are able to go out in search of a mate. It's quite a long process, since they do mate for
life and it is to be sure they've found the one. But once they do, they have one or two
pups a litter.
