Species Information
[[ ; DescriptionElentaurë are a very special species, designated as the guardians of the forest of Ser'yn. They are the patrons of all plant life, while their distant cousins the Zvesenok are the patrons of all animal life. These creatures look to be a mix of a deer and a fox. Their hearts are made of a very tough crystal that glows. It is incredibly hard to break these crystals, which accounts for how hard they are to kill. They always have antlers, even the females! The front half resembles a fox, save for the long neck and deer-like ears, while the back half resembles a deer. Their eyes doe not have pupils. These creatures are very skilled in magic, mostly related to the elemental variety. Some are not able to hone their magic abilities well enough, so their powers are taken away by the shamans, for the safety of the tribe. Parasitic plants control their bodies. Each Elentaurë may have a different or unique plant from the others. It varies for each individual. Due to the parasite, Elentaurë do not have emotions. They may have personalities and beliefs, but they cannot feel emotions whatsoever.[[ ; BehaviorMost Elentaurë are peaceful and generous. There are a select few that are malicious or mischievous, but most often these individuals are executed by the rest of the Elentaurë for falling out of the species' beliefs. It is very rare to find on that behaves in such a destructive and violent way. These creatures are usually shy and are a rare sighting in the wild. Their genetics tend to be unstable, and mutations are actually not all that uncommon in this species. The only few mutations that happen on very, very rare occasions are melanistic individuals, ones with unnatural coloring, and individuals that can control space matter. Other than that, practically anything is possible. They love to dress themselves with jewelry they've made or found human objects in the forest. They are a very vain species and often look very polished and clean. They are strictly herbivores, and any Elentaurë caught eating meat is executed.[[ ; Hierarchy The hierarchy of this species is very strict. They live in groups called tribes. There are usually only ever 2 tribes in Ser'yn at a given time. Once a new tribal leader takes over, the tribe is then reborn into what is referred to as an "era". In each new era the tribe is given a new name. In every tribe there is a single tribal leader, who is always female. Then there is the leader's mate, who is practically the second in command. Next down the line are the shamans, and there are always exactly 3, for it is considered a lucky number among the Elentaurë. Underneath the shamans are the tribal council. The council is a group of 6, sometimes 7 individuals who are in charge of certain factions. These factions are sections of the forest in which a single council member governs. Then come the elders after the council members. Finally, there are the normal, average subordinates who have little to no power in the hierarchy. Once a tribe dies out, a new one may claim the territory, or an existing one will take over. The Elentaurë will then erect a stone monument, etched with the deceased tribe's name, in memory and honor of those who died. Even though an Elentaurë may be a part of a tribe, that does not mean it actually lives close to the others. Tribes are very spread out, and Elentaurë are usually solitary animals.[[ ; Life CycleElentaurë do not breed like most normal animals do. They all breed with a certain type of magic. While most offspring are born in the Summer, it is entirely possible for them to be born in the other seasons as well. In order for a couple to breed, first they have to be blessed by the shamans of their tribe. Once blessed, a ritual is performed at a designated spot. It is a very ancient and sacred ritual, passed on through the generations.Once the ritual is finished one of the Elentaurë becomes impregnated and gestation usually lasts around 7 months. Usually only one offspring is born, with twins being a rare occurrence. There has only been one instance where a litter of 3 was born. They were considered to be blessed and sacred children, who grew up to become shamans of their tribe. Within the first week of birth a plant will usually set root into the Elentaurë's skin. Their eyes and ears open at about 8 weeks and their heart gains color during the same period. Once they become a year old, they start to gain control over magic. Elentaurë are a slow aging species. They usually live to be 400 years old. They are fully mature at 50 years old, and are permitted to start breeding at 100 years old.
