Feather Talon Wolves, more commonly known as FTW's, are a wolf-falcon hybrid species that occupy cliffs, mountains, volcanic islands, and even some high beaches. They live somewhat close to humans, and are often quite friendly. Their social patterns are quite similar to humans, and raise their chicks much like humans; they learn in groups from adult FTWs similar to the human school, and teenage FTWs enjoy getting into groups and socializing with each other. They are also quite fond of music. Their intelligence slightly passes humans, but their character traits are parallel to many human traits. They mate for life and are quite connected to their chicks, and sometimes even grandchicks if they live long enough. Healthy Feather Talon Wolves live to be about 80 years.

Physical Description- FTWs are slightly larger than the average wolf, and have long, fluffy, silky fur. Their fur is, however, stiff on the back of the neck and the crest of the head and forehead, creating large tufts of fur that stick up. The fur is also stiff on the back of the legs and base of the tail. They have small, feathered wings that are not large enough for flying but are instead used to jump higher, accelerate when running, and glide down easily from high places, especially their nests. They are fast, and very good climbers, due to their wings, which help lessen their body weight and propel them upwards. Their tail is thick, twice their hight in length, and ends with a large plume of fluffy fur. One of their most distinctive features, however, are their back feet- the fur on their ankles flops down over their feet, which are large, 3-toed bird feet with long, sharp talons. They are used to hold onto branches, climb, hold prey, etc. Feather Talon Wolves also have feathers. They usually have 2 (sometimes more) feathers growing behind their ear, and 2 more at the end of their tail/at the base of their plume. They are actual feathers and cannot be removed, and give the FTW a skill/strength depending on the feathers. Very rarely does an FTW have 2 types of feathers. Also, when FTWs grow up, they earn feathers of their own, which are placed on a string around their neck. Some choose to stylize this string or replace it.
Habitat/Home- FTWs live in large "nests" which are built for comfort. They are often quite large and have multiple rooms, despite rarely having a roof. These nests are almost always built on the face of a tall cliff, overlooking the ocean, meadows, or human town. The nests are made from weaving trees and other foliage on the cliff, unless they are overlooking water, which would then be in a cave. Some mated pairs are known to love a spot so much on a cliff that they will plant in cracks in the rocks and wait years for them to grow, because their nests will be permanent.
