Timber Dwarf Dragons, also known as Timber Dwarves, are friendly dwarf dragons that have a consisting diet of mostly fruits, vegetables, and sweets! All Timber Dwarves need sugar or candy to thrive, and candies of all sorts help this matter. Thier fur varies from short to long, although they are always soft, but not nessisarily fluffy. Normally, thier fur is wood and forest colored, or bright, warm colors. While most are bright colored, not all of them are happy and liking attention from others, though with one special person, a Timber Dwarf can turn to sad, to happy in 3.4 seconds. Timber Dwarf Dragons can live with humans, doing any type of job; Normally TDD's aren't seen without anyone in the city, and might be seen as a threat.
They have 'two names'; A birthname, a name only to be called by thier parents, a longer, dragonlike name; And a Regular name, normally short, and based off of a fruit, sweet, color, or item.
Timber Dwarves are very adaptable, and can live in the wild or with humans.
Timber Dwarves living with humans are very much like the ones in the wild. Their fire colour is the colour of their eyes, and they rarely use the fire unless it's for their own benefit, such as making a fire. Timber Dwarves are normally small dragons, the largest they can be is a great dane, which is very very rare. Normally Timber Dwarves are lighter, happier colors, or colours of tree bark. This helps them in the wild with camoflauge.
Timber Dwarves are easily bored, and often take to pastimes of painting, drawing, swimming, or eating. Some Timber Dwarves are known to play human video games, and are quite good at it as they challenge their friends. All Timber Dwarves are different in comparison, no two ever being the same in personality or markings. Timber Dwarf Dragons are highly intelligent, some being more than their owners. They can learn vast array's of languages, histories, and cultures. Some Timber Dwarves have the ability to read, and while most Timber Dwarves can speak human (If they have been around humans, that is) they have their own language that only they can understand. They cannot shapeshift, control weather, have superpowers, use magic, glow all over, or anything like that. That doesn't limit being a magicion's apprentice, the best friend of a weatherman, or wearing glow in the dark clothes.
In the wild, Timber Dwarves normally live in groups, called 'Tives'. These range from five to fifty Timber Dwarves, and these numbers can change. The 'Tives' normally consist of almost any Timber Dwarf, from family to unrelated. While 'Tives' live in forests, a Timber Dwarf can live alone with a partner, though they must have contact with another Timber Dwarf or they can get very sick with depression. This applies to all Timber Dwarves, though normally 'Tives' don't mind more members, as it would seem the more the merrier, and less babysitting for those already there.
Timber Dwarf Dragons once lived completely apart from humans, their territories ranging from forests to plains. Their fur was most commonly dark or dull colours, suited for remaining camouflaged and safe from predators. Alongside their horns, the dwarves' fire was their main defence, as their teeth and claws were better suited to climbing trees and eating than fighting. The dwarves' high metabolism requires that they consume large amounts of sugar, so they eat mainly fruit, as well as the occasional insect. Wild dwarves still live this way, though humans have changed the way of life of others.
Due to the differences in language, the humans initially believed the dwarves they discovered were not intelligent, and, though they accepted some into their lives, they treated them as no more than pets or working animals. Though it soon became clear the dwarves were more advanced than they appeared (being able to understand and use complex tools and, eventually, learn human languages) this misunderstanding still lingers. Humans are still often referred to as a dwarf's 'owner', for example, though such partnerships are more equal than that of an owner and their pet.
Today, many dwarf cubs are given to a human when they are young. Or are given a human, depending on how you look at it. This human will give the cub their common name, as the true names of the dwarves are often difficult for humans to pronounce. This common name is generally not a human name, as it would likely offend the cub's parents if their cub's name was replaced in that way. Instead, it is treated more as a nickname, and is a human word that describes the cub somehow, be it their appearance, personality, favourite food, or other trait. Even lone or wild dwarves will sometimes take a common name, for convenience when communicating with humans or other dwarves.
With those living with humans now protected from their natural predators, more bright and unusual colourations began to flourish. Over time, it was the darkest furred dwarves that became uncommon, while the brighter colours, once rare, have become the norm. Their fire, once a defence, has been adapted to be a tool. In part because of many humans' wariness of it, it has become taboo for a dwarf to use their fire in a fight. Candy and other sweets have become a staple of many dwarves' diets, though they still require some fruits and vegetables to remain healthy. Some are fond of cooked meat, but too much can be unhealthy for them.
Breeding
Adult TDD's are almost always couples for life. If, for some reason, a partner divorces [VERY VERY VERY RARE], the other TDD will not find another partner.
A female TDD normally lays one egg, though sometimes four eggs can be laid, on very very very rare occasions.
TDD's breed every three months; One month for the egg, and another for it to hatch. Due to their cheery and generally caring znature, they normally wait another month to take care of the new baby.
Special TDD's
*Dark Coloured ; This type of TDD is considered Dark Coloured if the base of the colours are dark. This is rare, since these TDD's tend to not be as happy as a normal TDD.
*Single Coloured ; This type of TDD is one main colour, such as an albino. Rarely will a TDD be single coloured, with a chance of one in a hundred. There are no Single Coloured TDD's yet.
*Short Furred ; This type of TDD has no fur at all! No tail tuft, no feet tufts, no beard, nothing! These are very, very rare. As normally a TDD has soft, thick fur, these TDD's have no tufts except for a small 'mane' running down their back.
*Long Tailed, Short Tailed ; This type of TDD has either a short or long tail; At birth, all tails remain the same lenght, but as they get older they can get longer, or shorter tails. The long tailed condition is quite common, though a Short Tailed is very rare.
*Double Colored ; This type of TDD only has two colors in their fur. This is rare, but not as rare as a single colored.
*Gnome TDDs ; These TDD's are considered the Gnomes of TDD's, as they have no horns and will never grow.
N.) These TDD's of the Gnome's 'Disorder' cannot develop horns in adult hood. While they will grow, and signs of age will show, they will never have horns. These can still breed.
T.) These TDD's will never become adults, and while they may grow, they can only grow to be a teen. These do get horns. These cannot breed.
C.) These TDD's will never become adults, and while they may grow to be only teen they do not have horns at all.
These cannot breed.
