I personally love made up species, but I have to say that this one is not very original...I do not mean to be harsh or anything, but it just seems like a horse with a few minor modifications...CS already has several horse-type species, if you want to make yours stand out you need to be a little more creative; and get good line art.

Also maybe they could live in the tundra? or the boreal forest/Taiga? Could be called Taiga equids then XD

For the environment, I would think they could live on great plains, near marshes. A long mane and tail wouldn't help heat equine; it would help with insects, for cold weather they would need very thick and shaggy coats, which would place them in on tundras. Due to their long manes and tails they couldn't live in brushy areas such as deserts and thin forests, but they could possibly live in deep forests where there is little ground foliage, though food would be scarce... just Mavi's 2 cents XD hope this helps

Hi there, again! So I managed to draw out what you made, with the long ears, tail, and mane, but added a few things. I personally think it is quite original, so I wonder if you'll like it. If you can't read my chicken scrath of handwriting i'll type it out for you .

At the top left it says Spikes, long tongue, patches of fur on ankles, and different symbol on the hip of every horse. Above the horse, it says Long ears, and a smaller 2nd set by those ears. A long mane and tail, and two (or if you want three) toes. The top right says 1 regular tail, and three other pointed tail beneath that one. I really hope this helps you with your species! And if you do use this or some of the stuff, please credit me with the ideas! I'll give you some basic info.

This species has a horse-like posterior, and a very long mane and tail. They feature three (or two) toes, and small patches of fur on their elbows and ankles, as well as on their hock. Below their tail, there is three pointed smaller tails hiding underneath. Spikes run along their back and atop their head, along with one on their nose. There are two sets of ears, one long and one shorter, and a very long tongue with a triangle shaped tip. Attributing to the strangeness, there is a different symbol resting on their hip, each one on every horse different. They could live in the mountains, or possibly in the desert, or even the rainforest.

Thankyou! I am new to all this species-making stuff, so I am not entirely sure what you mean by "affiliates" but if I decide to make them I would start out small and if they become succesful, then I would branch out and try to make them bigger. Thanks anyway =]

I see what you mean. I didn't want to make them sound too ridiculous, so I tried to keep them as realistic as possible. I agree that they may be a bit too horse based, do you have any suggestions on what I could add to them?
As I said in the first post, I am hopeless at digital art, so I would definitly get someone else to make me a good lineart. I want them to be succesful and don't want to waste my time trying to make a species a good one using my poor digital art skills.
I haven't thought of the Tundra or Boreal Forest as a habitat, though it is definitly a good thought. I don't think I would name them Taiga Equids though, as they aren't striped and don't roar xD

I haven't thought of their manes and tails helping with insects, but now that you mention, I think you may be right. A forest may be a good home for them, I will definitly keep that in mind.

Thankyou for your willingness to help me, but I don't want to change the species completly. As I said above, I would like to keep this species realistic, like something that you may actually find in your travels. I don't want a bizzare creature that looks half dragon - I want to keep it simple and possible.
