" As the sun gleamed over head, the young white faced calf trotted close behind his mother. Every once in a while he'd snort or flick his tail to indicate he was still keeping up with her pace. Today was a special day for him. This would be his first day completely weaned from his mother. But of course, with any stubborn boy, he still tried to get what he wasn't allowed to have, which resulted in him being nipped on the rump by an irritated mom. The cow stopped, her long haired tail twitching next to her son. Raghnall stopped and looked up at her with bright golden eyes, his head tilted slightly in a questioning manner. Rag took a few inquisitive steps ahead, his ears perked forward, imitating his mother. A couple of minutes past before the cow bent her head down and softly nudged the calf's shoulder with her nose. Raghnall shook his head happily before his mother motioned for him to follow her once again.

Below a rather steep slope, a large grassy area could be seen. A few trees were scattered here and there, their trucks thick and canopies wide. Other Crown Kirins were all grazing or watching the other calves' frolic about with each other. Raghnall's eyes widened at the group, as he had never seen so many before. His mother let out an amused noise before she galloped down the slope, Rag struggling to keep his footing behind her. After what seemed like mere seconds of climbing they were in the field with the others. A few lifted their heads in greeting while others simply ignored them. He followed his mother's lead down under one of the trees, a few stony looking things on the ground around it. Raghnall watched his mom with interest as she picked them up in her mouth and began to chew. Snaps and crunches made him curious so he himself took one in his jaws and began to eat. He had no idea what these were, but they tasted wonderful! He grunted and scraped the earth with one front hoof much like a horse would do.

They had been here now for a few days. Though Raghnall was still overly dependent on his mother. But today would be different. As they were feeding a female calf came up behind Raghnall and head butted him. He let out a annoyed snort before he turned to see the look on her face. She jumped back a few paces, her tail waving invitingly behind her. Rag's mother looked up once, smiled, then went back to eating, letting the young ones play. Raghnall looked from her to the much younger female then back at his mother. He thought for a few seconds before he raced past her and she followed cheerfully. They played together, and then with all the other calves all day and were forced back to their mothers to sleep for the night. Raghnall happily curled close to his mother, his eyes heavy and slowly drifting into a deep sleep as he watched the night sky..."
