"Jessica - Commoner, Deaf Farm Girl - From Country of Panem - Has a deep secret
Jackson - Jess's Brother - From Panem as well"
Rolling hills and flat plains, green and grassy, as far as the eye could see. Off in the distance you see the tip of a of a tan-colored castle. If you look closer, you see many small houses that surround the castle, creating the large town known as Brightwood, a strange name indeed. Why, not a bright thing is in sight once you enter the town, everything is dull and boring to the eye. Now, lets back up a bit, and surrounding the city are acres upon acres of fields, owned by multiple farmers, and filled with various types of livestock, as well as many grains and other foods.
It was on one of these such farms that a very special teenage girl lived. She was very young, not even an adult yet, infact, she just turned sixteen as of last week. Her pitch black hair was cut short, layered around her face to frame the beautiful, high cheekbones that she inherited from her mother. Her eyes were a deep, oceanic color, appearing to be dark green in some lighting and dark blue at other times. Although, most of the time they were simply a gorgeous mixture of the two, causing a sea-like color to appear. Her skin was pale and fair, unable to ever hold a tan for the life of her, and yet she never burned either, merely stayed light colored, no matter how much she was out in the sun.
She was wearing a simple pair of brown shorts, which were tied around the waist with a piece of rope that she used for a belt, unable to find her real belt that morning. The shorts had formerly belonged to her older brother, but had been left out to dry for too long and had ended up shrinking, still a bit big on her but they worked. Her shirt was a simple, white, cotton button-up, sleeves ending at her elbows in a flowy maner to keep her cool in the heat of the summer. On her feet was a pair of dark brown, leather ankle boots, worn and dirty from age and use.
Walking up behind her was a tall boy, standing at least 6 foot tall, with broad shoulders long legs. If you looked closely, one could easily tell that he was related to the girl in some way. This, infact, was true. He was the girl's nineteen year old brother, and he was coming to talk with her. But he didn't call her name like you'd expect, infact, the girl did not have a clue that he was coming. She was deep within her own thoughts, and a bit upset. Her favorite mare, Sunburst, had died during foaling that very morning. The foal hadn't made it either... Finally close enough to touch her, the boy gently tapped her shoulder, making her turn around to look at him, eyebrows raised in curiousity. Jackson knew better then to disturb her from her thoughts..
"Jessica, Sister, I have marvelous news. You know how we've been keeping a close eye on the Faerres that go up to the alter on Vinara? Well, mother and I think that there might finally be a faerre up thats right for you! His name is Det, and he was born mute. His coat is also something I think you will like, its a deep blue, with patterns of the stars etched into his markings. He is known to be very creative, an inventor with many ideas on blueprints, one could say, alot like you. You are an inventor, perhaps you would be able to take some of his ideas and make them real if he were to choose you!" Jackson said, having a hard time speaking slow but forcing himself to, so Jessica could understand him. The strange part? She hadnt looked like she'd been listening, but instead, her eyes had been locked on his lips, reading them as he spoke. A slow smile began to creep onto her face, and she nodded her head gently, opening her mouth to speak herself.
"He does sound quite perfect for me, I agree with you brother. I would be honored to have him choose me as his partner, and I...I am going to go to Vinara and try to win him. I'll be leaving as soon as I collect the things I will need for the journey." Jessica said, her voice gentle, words slow as they left her mouth. She used her hands as well as she spoke, signing her words with them even though her voice was saying them. It was just a habit she had grown. Besides that, she couldn't hear herself or anyone else when they spoke, so she had to be careful to talk slowly so she said the words right, and anouther person had to talk slow so she was able to read his/her lips.
The young girl gave her brother a gentle smile, before turning and bolting away from the scene. Her first stop was the house, where she packed her bag with some clothes, a hairbrush, somefood that wouldnt ruin, and other little nessecities. Then, she began to walk to the very, very, VERY back of the property, where a large, pale rainbow colored building stood. Her workshop. All of the things she had invented were in there, as well as the blueprints and parts for more items. Jessica made her way to a table on the left, where a simple-looking object was sitting on a stand, inside of a glass case. She pulled it out, wrapped it securely in a cloth, then put it in her bag.
And then, she was off to Vinara...

It had been a week-long journey, but finally, the girl was in the forrest near to Vinara, right on the outskirts infact. Time to change into something more.. Appropriate before she entered the city and approached Det. Her mother always thought that first impressions on the outside were important, and so Jess would respect her mother and change out of her scummy work-clothing and into something prettier.
Out of her bag she got a long, flowing dress. It was pure white, and tappered slightly along the bottom. The sleeves were mere strips (like a tank top), but what was really beautiful was the simplistic elegance of the top. It had a cut line down the bust, which used string to lace back up, sort of like a boot, still showing her skin but more closed up. There was a ruffled waist-line made right under the bust, and above that there were pale, creamy-white ruffles along the top rim and the sides of the cut, making the dress look very lady-like.
Jessica paid very careful attention as she changed out of her dirty clothes and into the beautiful dress, making sure not to rip it or get it dirty. She then used her hairbrush to flatten out her short-black hair, making it naturally frame her beautiful face. What she didnt do, though, was bother changing out of her little boots. Hey, it was her style, and if she wanted to wear boots with a dress, it was her choice!
The girl took a deep breath as she slung her pack onto her back, and then slipped through the trees and out into the open, walking along the edges of the city until she found the line to meet with Det, a very long line indeed, but she was fine with waiting. She had been waiting since she was a young child, first hearing about the Faerre's, to come and have one choose her as a companion, and Det seemed to perfect for her, she was willing to wait, however long it may be.
