Horses & Hats

The long, winding dirt road that led up to Soopa Valley Ranch was a giant dust cloud. Four trucks were driving in, each accompanied by a trailer. When the dust settled six people were standing in front of Jayson and Jessica Bell, the owners of the ranch. "Welcome to Soopa Valley Ranch," Jessica said to the newcomers. "We have prepared your cabins for you," She said.

Small talk erupted between the visitors, who were undergoing training with their horses. The Bell twins led the guests to the cabins, allowing them to settle in. Cabin number one, the girls cabin, was filled by Piper Houston and Roselyn Jones. The other two cabins, designated for the boys, we're filled by William Jones, Alexander Smith, Jacob Martinez, and Emmett Jones. The Jones' were triplets, and they all looked very different.

Piper Houston, Jessica and Jayson's cousin, was the first one to go get her horses from the trailer. Her black stallions, The Fire Inside and Rebel Pride, we're fidgety and uncomfortable on their lead ropes. Jessica ran down to get them into stalls. Jacob Martinez with Drug Dealer and Shotgun was next, his mares calm and collected. Soon Alexander Smith had his stallion High Flyer in stall five.

The Jones' were an odd sight. None of the horses trusted William, but they were attached to Roselyn and Emmett. The triplets had only two horses; a beautiful pinto mare named Raising the Bar, and a proud white stallion called Dash of Class. Jayson watched everything with a careful eye, seeing how horses felt with their owners.

"Roping in the morning, dinner in thirty," He called. Jayson walked into the barn. He headed to the end of it where two mares stood. Out in the fields there was a stallion and his band that they took care of. He fed carrots to Eat Dust and Beat That, then moved out toward the field.

all we have is each other."
