- Chapter one
"Sorry, your highness." He replied, slightly blushing.
"Please, I've told you, I don't care about those fancy names." She said, smiling slightly.
"But your father does." He replied.
"But I'm not him, am I?" She retorted. She was sick of those fancy titles, she did not like being referred 'your highness' or 'your majesty'.
"As you wish, Y- Clarissa." Christian hesitated as he spoke her real name, after correcting himself before he said 'your majesty'.
"Thank you." She replied sharply, her voice holding none of the warmth the boy had experienced just recently beforehand. The boy bowed clumsily and hurried away, and Clarissa sighed to herself quietly. She quickly walked to her room, where she dismissed the guards and her personal maid within seconds. She flung herself across her bed, and stared at the tapestry around the brightly furnished room. It looks like it hasn't been updated since I was six. She thought bitterly, as she took in the pink and even the photo of herself when she was a baby. She rose, and walked to her balcony, where she stepped out and looked around. From her position, she could see the whole palace grounds and the city beyond. The sound of her door being flung open made Clarissa turn. The face she came face-to-face with was her brother's. "Clarissa." He spoke in a low and urgent tone. "The Elves are upon us. We must evacuate you to the town house. Come!" He took her by the arm and pulled her towards the door.
"No, I-" Clarissa started to say.
"Must come." He finished and continued to pull her along the halls and through the castle, soon into the streets and towards the town house.
The Elves? She thought to herself as they went through the street maze. Will I live through this attack?
