Piercing Screams

My best friend raced forward and hugged me. 'Sarah!' I cried 'I missed you so much!' Over the last three years I had not seen any of my friends or family. I guessed they had all fled the city. But Davis told me the fighting had spread to other cities and states also. I couldn't imagine the whole country fighting. 'What-- Why-- But-- How did you get here?' I asked Sarah. 'Well my family and I fled the city. But we had to come back to see if our house and belonging survived. Most of it did. Then we went to your house. And we saw it burned to a crisp.' I bit my lip. All of it gone. 'Then I asked around town to see if anyone had seen you and eventuly we found here. My parents are asleep on floor 2.' She finished explaining. I looked around her and saw a cake. With my name on it. With 14 candles on it. Just then everybady began to sing happy birthday. I joined in. We finished singing and ate the cake. I didn't care how they got it. Actully where did they get it? It doesn't matter. I was happy. Then we heard a 'meow' and everybody turned to see Cookie walking down the staris with another cat following her. It hit me. She wasn't just eating a bunch. She was having kittens. I ran and hugged her then she and the cats turned down the hall and dissapeard. The other cat was all black so I decided to call hime Shadow.

Sarah, Davis, and I sat around a table in the lobby. We had all been telling our life stories. 'So that is when they left. I had no idea. I just woke up and they were gone. I began to--' A loud siren interupted Davis. The lights flickered off and we sat in total darkness. It was night now so there was no light coming from outside. 'CODE RED. CODE RED. REPORT TO THE WOODS. GET READDY FOR BATTLE.' And all was silent. The lights flickered back on and Sarah and Davis looked as pale as I probably was. We leaped up and ran to our rooms. I pulled on my breast plate made of iron and grabbed my sword. We fought with swords because guns were too much of a hassle. I ran down to the lobby and met Davis and Sarah there. We all hugged and I whispered in both of their ears, 'Be careful.' They both nodded and we went our seperate ways. When I got to the edge of the woods there were already hundreads of people lined up there. We were to be as quiet as possible so the enemy would not hear us. There was a small toot of a horn and we all were off. I ran as fast as I could. No alies meant no noise. Suddenly a thick fog set in. I heard a twig snap behind me and I ripped out my sword and whipped around. No one was there. Ok, ok, ok. No one was there, I was ok.

Davis stepped out from the tree in front of me and shot forward to slap his hand over my mouth. I pulled it off and said, 'Thanks, I would have screamed.' He nodded and whispered 'I need to talk to you.' I looked at his face for any laughter or jokes or anything, but there was nothing. I leaned closer and he whispered 'I work for the SNF.' My mouth dropped open in horror. 'What!?!?!' I whispered. 'But they don't fight super natural stuff!' he cried 'It is a lie! They are a group of terrorists! They want to take over the U.S.A.! Please listen! We have to destroy them!' 'You lied!' I snarled 'We trusted you! And you lied to us! This is a trick isn't it? I can't believe you!' 'But I love you!' He cried. Once again my mouth dropped open. I fixed my eyes on the tattoo of a beautiful red rose. When did he get that? I looked back up at him 'No. No. No. No! Your lying!' I turned and ran. Suddenly hands grabbed me. I let out a scream and thrashed. I heard Davis calling my name but at the moment I was a little preoccupied. And that is when they knocked me out.

I woke up in a dark room. I guess I had been thrown on to the hard dirt floor below me. I rubbed the bump on the back of my head and muttered 'Ow that hurts.' Just then a moan came from the other side of the room. I scrambled into a corner and watched as Davis pushed himself up. I squwished my body farther into the corner. Davis looked around then fixed his eyes on a lump on the floor. He crawled over and gasped. I looked closer and realized it was Sarah. I stiffled a scream. Was she dead? 'Oh' She moaned 'What happened?' 'Sarah, Sarah. Are you ok? Sarah answer me!' Davis cried. I couldn't take it anymore. I dove out of the corner. I grabbed her hand and whispered 'Sarah please tell me are you ok?' 'Charlotte!' Davis gasped

I turned to him and snarled 'Get away you beast!' He stumbled back, clearly surprised. I whipped back around to Sarah. 'Wait listen.' We listened. I heard breathing and Davis cried 'Hey look!' I turned to see three heads peeking over the side of one of the hanging beds. They vanished.
