I just read the whole front page. Don't yell at me or anything, but don't you think you are being kind of selfless? I mean, you say you want a friend, and whenever someone sits next you, you glare at her? What h*ll? I'm only stating my opinion, so don't yell or scream, please.

I felt like crap yesterday, so I stayed home from school. My brother, James, was home too. He takes online college courses. He's kind of nerdy, but he's an okay brother. My mom brought me to school today. I got there so early only Brian was there. I looked at him and sat down a few seats away from him. He smiled, and said "Hi." I stared at him. Then I remembered to say "Hi" back. My cell phone rang. I ignored it.
"Aren't you going to answer it?" he asked.
I made a face. "It's probably Amanda. She's trying to get me to ditch everyone and go back to being 'popular'"
He looked surprised. "Really..."
Elizabeth walked in and sat down next to me. "Hi!" she chirped. "Whatcha doing?"
"Just talking." I smiled. "Sorry I skipped yesterday. I felt really sick."
"It's okay."

The school talent show auditions are coming up. Elizabeth wants to do an act with me, so I'm going to her house this afternoon to practice. On the way to her house, we saw Amanda and Kelsey walking down the street. I yanked Elizabeth down a side street to avoid them.
When we got to her house, she said "Where do you want to start?"
"Do you want to sing a diet or something?" I asked.
She made a face. "I can't sing."
"Oh, come on." I said. "You can't be that bad!"
She rolled her eyes and said "If you want me to sing, then you have to sing after."
"Okay." I said.
She started singing Amazing Grace. I covered my ears. She truly couldn't sing!
"Okay, stop!" I said.
She smiled. "I told you so. Now you have to sing. Sing Amazing Grace."
I smiled. "Okay." I started. "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound....."
Her mom came into the room, but I kept singing. When I was done, Elizabeth's mom applauded.
I blushed. I wasn't that good!
"Bravo, bravo!" said Elizabeth. "You're the best singer I've heard!"
I blushed even deeper. "No, I'm not very good."
Elizabeth's mom cut in. "Mara! You're the best singer I've heard in ages!"
Elizabeth whispered to me "She's a music teacher. You'd better listen to her!"
