I nearly jumped out of my skin, startled, by a loud screech that come from behind me; probably outside. With my eyes wide and mouth gasping, I peered out the window where I would have guessed to be met with the darkness of the night; but to my surprise on odd, and very ugly, creature met my eyes. It stared at me crouched down and peering with it's bulbous eyes and saliva dripping mouth, with patchy fur that was covered with dirt and grime of the years.
"Oh god..." I gasped, backing up and holding myself up by the counter that stood below the mirror as it scratched gently on the window to come in. What in the world could this thing be? I never heard of anything that looked like it, and I'm pretty sure if it wasn't a severely mutated Hyena it was some sort of demon. Demon...
"H-Hello there...." I managed to sputter out. "Your quite a..cute creature." I chuckled out in fear. The large animal flicked it's ears and actually appeared to smile, with it's rotting gums moving back to form a giant smile.
"Can I help you little one? Ugh," I sighed. "You scared me." I came closer to the window and tapped it gently, tap, tap, as it kept it's smile and licked the window.
"Awuh... Your not so scary after all. I'll come out and pet you..." I said, smiling back to its ugly-cute face as I motioned for it to wait.
Tip-toeing past Rake in his usual restless-sleep and Tommo wrapped up burrito style in his blankets, I ever so slightly unlocked the door, holding the knob tightly, unlatching the second lock, and oh-so slowly turning the knob to open the door to the dark African morning.
"Here doggy, doggy...." I called, assuming it was canine, as I padded step by step around the motel as I spotted it come around the corner of the complex cautiously. It walked at a angle with it's head higher than it's rump, with stunning green and gold eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness, and chill me with goosebumps.
"Here doggy." I said gleefully, walking towards it with an outstretched palm for it to smell,
And that's where things so black.

I woke up, dizzy, with my head and legs throbbing, back aching in our dark motel on Tommo's bed with him sitting beside me; scared from his wits as I could see from his sweat and wide eyes. I tried to shake off my light-headedness as the room spinning and lights flashed, and as I came more and more to awareness, the most god-awful sound came from the bathroom, similar to the screech that I heard earlier.
"Tommo..." I rasped. "Whats going on?"
Tommo scurried down and clung onto me, burying his face into my chest and trembling in fear.
"Whats going on?"
"I-I don't know...." He said, looking up to me with worried eyes as I could make out that the door was being slammed, with various screams and screeches within those slams. I help my head and slowly lifted Tommo from me and slung my legs out of the bed, which stung and had a hard time standing up.
"Rake?"
I asked, coming around the corner to see him holding the door shut, pushing it, and trying his best to keep something in there with all the strength of his thinner-than-the-average-model frame.
"Its okay. We have rats-" Rake muttered out between pushing himself more at the door.
"What is that..." I questioned, curious to find out what was going on. Nobody has answered any of my questions!
"Here." Rake rasped, as he gently cracked the door, as I peered into the filthy bathroom in it's wreckage to reveal the same creature whom I met at the window; leaping at us from a running start with it's rotting teeth exposed and patchy fur on end, bulging eyes even more bulbous than ever as it knocked Rake on his bony rump, hitting his head, and releasing it's self as Tommo screamed and hid under the bed blankets for his life.
"What the-" I screamed, shocked, as I watched the beast scurry over to Tommo and dig for him in the sheets, before Rake flung himself on it and wrestled it; the creature squirming around like a hog, and squealing like one to, as Rake caught it in his arms, squeezing the ever-living life of it.
"FINE! FINE! I GIVE IN!"
