Getting away with murder || Chapter One Up!

Postby Foi » Wed Sep 21, 2011 5:34 pm

Hi guys, Dapple here! :3
So I decided to write another story. The idea randomly came to me while I was listening to songs, as ideas usually do.

---

Plot:
Kate is a twelve year old girl who's mother is brutally murdered by her father. Kate found her mother dead and her father with blood all over his hands and knife. He tells her that if she tells anyone and he goes to jail, he will find her and kill her. Kate doesn't know what to do and is trapped. Both ways she has a risk of being murdered. Keep quiet and maybe be killed when her father strikes again? Or tell the police and be hunted down, and if found, killed. Her decision in the end has a huge consequence.

---

So, are you interested? I hope so!
I'm a novice when it comes to story writing, and I need advice. Please give me critique and tips.
I hope you enjoy!

Thanks,
~Sun Dappled

Chapter One ~ The Murder

Kate fell to her knees, her mouth hanging open, and her eyes huge with shock. In front of her lay her mother’s body, mangled and sliced open. Her father held a knife and had blood all over his hands.
“Katie.” Her mother wheezed and smiled. “Tell everybody I love them.” Kate grabbed her mother’s hand and squeezed it.
“Mum, it’s okay. You’re going to be fine.” She choked desperately, tears flowing down her cheeks.
“It’s okay Katie. You’re a big girl now. You can manage. Knowing this makes it easier to leave you. I love you. I will always be in your hear..” Her mother trailed off and sighed, her eyes sliding closed.

“Mum! Mum!” Kate yelled. She shook her mum’s limp hand violently. Desperately. It was too late, her mother was gone. Kate felt the warmth fading out of her mother’s hand. She buried her face in her mother’s cold hand and sobbed. Then she sat up and screamed. Her father ran out of the house. She screamed again and squeezed her eyes shut, scrunching up her nose.

This isn’t real. It’s a dream. It’s all a dream.
But everything was too real to be a dream. Kate let her upper-body fall on her mother’s side, and she clutched her shirt, tears flooding from her eyes and blurring her vision. Blood soaked her shirt and hands. She flung her head back and wailed.

Kate heard footsteps but didn’t turn around, instead continued wailing. She knew who it was. Her father. Her father the murderer. Her father who had killed the most important person in her life. Then she got up, and did turn around. She ran towards her father and punched him as hard as she could over and over.
“You killed her! You killed her!” Kate screamed furiously. Her eyes were dark with anger and sadness. Her father just stood there, taking the blows. His lip split, yet he just stood there, a blank expression on his face.

Then he shook himself and shoved Kate away.
“If you tell anybody, I repeat anybody, I may go to prison, but I will break out. I will find you. I will kill you. You will be no better than your mother.” He told her darkly. Kate’s eyes widened and she stopped trying to hurt him.
“I dare you.” She yelled and ran away. She flung open the door and slammed it behind her. Then she ran. She ran for a long time.

When Kate stopped, she stopped at the police station. Then she ran in.
“My mother is dead. My father, he...” She trailed off. “He is with her.” The police officers looked shocked and full of sympathy. They patted her head and told her it would be okay. Then they raced off to their police cars holding her hand. Kate delicately got into a police car and they drove off, siren hooting. Then she drifted off.

When Kate woke, she heard her father’s voice.
“This man came in with a knife. We were all watching television. He grabbed my wife and stabbed her, slicing down her body. I managed to punch him but he got away.” Her father explained. Lied.
“L - liar.” Kate croaked. Her father shot her a furious glance which she fell quiet again from. Somebody needed to know the truth. But when would she get the chance to tell them?
