*Chapter One*
~Sootie~

Lightning lit up the dark night sky as rain began to fall. Sootie dashed through the dark alley, looking for shelter. People walked quickly down the sidewalk, putting thier hoods up and getting out umbrellas. Sootie froze in terror as she saw the humans, she was petrified of them. Suddenly someone started to honk thier car horn, Sootie turned and ran back towards the mazes of alleys and streets. Soon she came to a small turned over wooden crate. Sootie peeked in and sighed, they were still there. Three tiny newborn kittens were sleeping in that box, they never even knew their mother had left. Sootie curled up in a small ball beside her kittens, she would find a better home for them in the morning.
*Cadette*

Cadette opened one eye and peeked at her mother. "Where has she been?" she wondered. Suddenly the ground shook as thunder rumbled nearby. Cadette snugled closer to her siblings, cringing whenever she heard a clap of thunder.
}Tess{
Tess quickly sat up in her bed as lightning lit up the large room. She quietly walked over to the window, being careful not to wake up the other girls in the room. Tess had never known her parents, she was abandoned at the age of two. She hated to think her parents didn't want her, living in a run-down orphanage was terrible. A mean tempered woman named Ms.Huffe ran the place, she seemed to be meanest to Tess. Tess tiptoed back to bed and tried to fall asleep, wondering what the next day would bring.
*Chapter Two*
.:Willow:.
Sunbeams glittered in through the cracks on the top of the crate. Willow slowly rolled over and glanced at her mother sitting at the front of the crate. As Willow got up she stepped on her brother Flame's tail. Flame mewed then glared at his sister. "Sorry" said Willow rolling her eyes, then continuing to walk towards her mother. Sootie looked up as Willow sat down beside her. "Mama are we going to a new home today?" questioned Willow. Sootie kept her gaze fixed on another cat rumaging through a trash can. "Yes, I will be going out soon" replied her mother. Willow sat beside her mother in awkward silence until her siblings woke up.
~*Flame*~

Flame stretched slowly, then padded over to where his mother and sister were sitting. Willow looked over at her brother and mewed a good morning. Flame pounced on his sister's tail playfully, Willow whirled around and batted at her brother. Flame tumbled around the crate as he play fought with Willow. Suddenly as Flame fell back, he landed on top of his sister Cadette, making her growl and hiss. Flame got up and got in a crouch position, asking for a fight. Cadette got up and started to play with her brother.
~Sootie~
As Sootie watched her kittens play, she thought of how good they would be at fighting someday. She slowly got up and glanced at the kittens. "I'm going out for awhile, stay here and be good." she said as she walked out onto the street. Sootie crept down the alley, wondering where she should take her kittens.
}Tess{
Tess slowly opened her eyes as the sun shone through her window. She pushed off her blanket and put her slippers on. The other girls were still sleeping, so Tess was careful to be extra quiet as she got dressed and did her hair. Suddenly Tess heard a noise outside her window. She pushed the curtians aside and looked out the window. A small dog was sitting on the lawn below barking quietly. Tess ran to the kitchen and asked Mrs. Snow, the cook at the orphanage, for some leftover table scraps. Mrs. Snow was super nice and knew that Tess was taking care of the dog. After Tess got the scraps, she ran out the back door and called "Snoopy!". Soon a small beagle came up to her barking and licking her hand. Tess laughed and put the food on the ground for him to eat. Snoopy hungrily scarfed down the scraps then sat beside Tess. She pet Snoopy for awhile then got up.
"Gotta go for now boy!" said Tess as she patted Snoopy's head. "Make sure Mrs. Huffe doesn't see you." Tess quietly opened the back door of the orphanage and walked in. "Where have you been young lady?" said a voice behind her. Tess whirled around and came face to face with Mrs.Huffe.
