Assessment

Alicia skipped happily through the forest singing as she went. Eventually she slowed down to a walking pace as she entered a clearing. "Pretty!" she said happily moving towards a bush at the base of a tree. As soon as she neared the tree an arrow shot past her ear, lodging itself in the tree. Alicia quickly looked around for the archer as another dog, with an elegantly carved bow slung over his back, stepped out from behind a tree.
"And what would such a pretty lady as you be doing out in the forest alone?" he asked with a smirk.
"I went out into the forest for a walk and then I got lost," Alicia explained. "Could you help me find my way out?" she asked.
"Of course I can Princess, your father would kill me otherwise," he said as his demeanor changed from that of a thief to one of an extremely proud mentor.
"Your reflexes are good, your story believable, now one last question," he said "Did I bring anyone with me?"
"Of course you did Damen. Cole makes as much noise as a circus elephant," she said laughingly.
"Do not!" A voice loudly protested from behind another tree. Cole stepped out from behind his tree his eyebrows creased with anger.
"The princess is right you do make quite a large amount of noise," Damen said mater-of-factly.
"Whatever," Cole said, "Hey Alicia race ya to that tree over there!" He took of at a full sprint; Alicia hot on his heels.
Damen sighed, he knew he had gotten in way over his head when he decided to train the princess in the warrior arts when he already had a student, but the girl showed a lot of promise. He slowly trotted up to the tree where Cole and Alicia were laying, with heaving sides, arguing about who had gotten there first.
"Let's go back to the castle," he instructed, "And no racing on the way back." He turned onto the trail and began to walk back to the castle, Cole and Alicia following.
