Prologue
That night, after Valerie's all-nighter, I was out cold by nine; this was unusual for me, a teenage girl with a great fervor for partying and staying up late.
I'm the person in the red '02 Chevy in the next lane over playing the music so loud you can hear it through your window. I'm the person with the long, dirty brown, natural, sleek hair... with a neon blue highlight running down.
Not to say I'm a bad person. I'm not! I get straight A's in school, and I just sent in my application to a university in Florida to study marine biology!
I'm the half-and-half creme that I put in my coffee. Half good, half bad.
Life had just been rolling along like this, just like this, for at least four years. I don't really remember how long ago Jules had his accident; no one does. It must've been at least I year ago, I think. I still remember tapping my foot impatiently in the hospital waiting room. I remember security having to hold me still when I thrashed about as the doctor told me about Jules' little slip.
Now I'm just getting ahead of myself. Let's go back to the beginning where this entire "mishap" originated...
