A black haze, thick as velvet has taken over the night sky. The stars don't shine under this curtain. The air feels hot and muggy. A small girl puffs up her cheeks and blows away the haze. The sky is bright and clear. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. You can feel the heat radiating off of the hot pavement. The girl starts to skip away. She skips right up to a tree. She does a little twirl under the tree and then sits down at the base. SHe had just started to close her eyes when a woman fell out of the tree. She was wearing a tattered green dress, and laying flat on her back. The girls eyes snapped open and she immediately jumped to her feet. Her eyes followed the trunk of the tree to place where the woman fell from. There were women in these torn dresses everywhere in the tree. They were all wiggling, smiling, and giggling uncontrollably. Now the woman on the ground was sobbing. The small girl raced over to her and tried to help the woman onto her feet. She got the lady up and started to ask the millions of questions that raced through her brain.
"Why were you in that tree? Why are those women in that tree? Who are you?..." Before the girl could fire another fusillade of questions the woman said, "Child shush and i'll tell you. I live in that tree, I am a leaf you see."
"You're no leaf!"
"Am so!" the woman shouted back
"No tree i have ever seen has leaves like you."
"That's because there is only one tree that grows leaves like us. The tree grown from the seed of Eve."
"The seed of Eve?"
"Yes." The woman glanced around and then said "i'm sorry I must go. Now that I have fallen my journey begins."
"What journey?" asked the girl.
"A journey to freedom."
