ONE LESS LONELY VAMPIRE
Chapter 1 The Stranger
It was a cold night when it happened. A frightened Elizabeth woke up with a sudden jolt, and she looked around her room. When she realised she was the only one there, she sighed. She could have sworn she felt a cold, but soft hand tenderly caress her cheek. "Oh well," she muttered. "It must have been a bad dream.
♦ ♦ ♦
Three nights passed, and she felt it again. Now she knew she wasn't dreaming.
♦ ♦ ♦
It was now Friday. She expected her strange, unkown guest to follow his same little pattern. She didn't know how, but she was certain her visitor was a man. She decided to stay up to meet him. Around 12:00 AM, she felt the hand. She awoke and found out she was alone.....again. She then realised she must have fallen asleep. She didn't have long to be disappointed with herself though, because she heard something, or someone, on the roof. She scrambled out of bed and looked out her window. The cool night air rushed in, making her shiver. The only things that greeted Elizabeth were dead silence, twinkling stars, and tha pale sad face of the moon smiling back at her. She shut her window tightly and crawled back in. She was unconscience once more in seconds.
♦ ♦ ♦
It was Monday three days later, and Elizabeth was determined not to fall asleep again. Before bed she drank at least a gallon of coffee and Mt. Dew and ate handfuls of candy. She knew she would later have a stomach ache, but it was worth it.
♦ ♦ ♦
She was proud of herself that she had stayed up all night, but frustrated that her friend-she thought of him as a friend now, considering he never harmed her-never appeared. She wondered why, and she figured he only came when she was asleep.
♦ ♦ ♦
Thursday she woke at just the right time. He-so she correct, it was a male-jumped back with surprise, and he fell down to a sitting position. He quickly recovered though. He gracefully got up, and almost cat-like, he sauntered to the end of her bed where he lightly sat down. He looked maybe about seventeen, just like herself. She rubbed her eyes and blinked several times to make sure she wasn't hullucinating.
"Hello," he said. "My name's Damon."
His voice is so soothing. she thought. Then Elizabeth politely said hello back in a daze. It obviously didn't show though because Damon's expression never changed. In a surprisingly steady voice, she started asking a million questions.
"Why do you keep touching me at night? And why every three nights? And how come-"
"Wow," Damon interrupted. "You ask a lot of questions. Are we playing 20 Questions or something?"
That's when she noticed his eyes were red, so blood red, and his skin was ghostly pale. It all made since now, like a giant puzzle piece had fallen from the sky and the puzzle was now complete. She knew what he was. She thought-no she screamed-inside her head...
Chapter 2 The Truth
Vampire. A vampire has been comping in my room, and I didn't even know it until now. Everything made since. He only visited at night, he had blood red eyes, he was graceful and cat like, and his skin was ghostly pale. But two things weren't explained.
Damon noticed the emotions change on Elizabeth's face: recognition, horror, confusion, fright...and then nothing. "You know what I am," he stated so clearly, that it couldn't have been a question. Elizabeth slowly nodded.
"Then say it."
Elizabeth shook her head. He could tell she was uncomfortable. "I'm a vampire, and I assume you have questions." He watched as Elizabeth nodded.
"How many?" he asked boredly.
"Just two. Why do you only come every three nights?" she questioned.
"Because I'm always...busy. Next question."
"Why do you visit me, when there's a million other girls in the world?" Damon wasn't expecting that, and she could tell. She watched as he quickly recovered though.
"No reason in particular. And besides, how do you know I don't visit them?"
"You're hiding something from me."
"If that's what floats your boat, then sure." He flashed her a grin, and she became light headed.
Wow, even though he's creepy, there's so many stunning things about him, she thought.
"I gotta go," he said quickly after he saw the time on her dresser clock. He sprang to his feet and dashed to the window. She was going to ask him if she would ever see him again, but instead she just blurted out bye. Before she could even blink, he was gone. She heard a barely audible thud, and she scrambled out of bed to the window and looked out. It was pitch black outside. There was no moon or stars out. She couldn't see a thing. With a sigh she crawled back under her covers. Closing her eyes, she was asleep in seconds.

Chapter 4 The Return
It was May 27, the night of the most popular dance at Athena Highschool. Elizabeth was in her dress, hair up nice and neat, makeup on, and she was looking at herself in the mirror. She was the queen of the school, no one could take that away from her. She smiled, noticing how beautiful she was. She wondered just how many people would compliment her or want to hang out with her. Her window flew open suddenly, and she jumped. On her bed, Damon sat wearing all black, just like the first time she saw him. Shegasped, and then frowned.
"Why are you here? hy did you just leave all of a sudden?" she exploded.
"Why everytime you see me, you start up with 20 Questions?"
"I want answers!"
"How bad?"
"Just shut up and get out of my room! I don't ever want to see you again!"
"Aw...you got all prettied up for me, and now you're already ushering me out the door?"
"I have a dance, and if you don't leave I'm going to be late."
"I have an idea. You can take me to the dance, and I'll be your date."
"Haha, very funny. No. People would catch on just as quick as I did. Besides, I have a boyfriend."
"Oh really? Well, I would love to meet this lucky guy. Tell me about him."
"What do you want?! Why did you come back? What do I have to do to get you to go away and never come back?" She was frustrated now. She was confused too. She didn't want him to ever leave her again; she wanted him to stay and never leave her side. She wanted to be Queen of Athena Highschool, and she wanted him to be her king. But yet, all of that had come out of her mouth, and she had had no control over it.
Chapter 5 Dance
"Well, I guess I'll leave so you don't miss your dance," Damon said.
"Wait...don't go. I was being rude. It's fine, I don't really care about the dance that much. You should come, just...do you have some colored contacts or something so no one can see your eyes? Because they give you away the most," Elizabeth replied. What am I doing? I can't invite a vampire to the dance! He'll kill everybody! And everyone's going to be there looking their best and then he'll meet Jesse and make everyone his minions! her mind screamed. She was cool and relaxed on the outside though. She looked up at him through her eyelashes, waiting for him to answer.
"Well, I'm sure I could get dressed up, run to the sotre, get some contacts, and make it back here in time for the dance. I mean, if you don't mind," he said.
She blushed, wondering if he had already forgotten about her having a boyfriend. "Did you...?" she started, but she let the question trail off. She decided it was better to not bring up Jesse.
"Did I what?" he persuaded. She looked up at him, and her breath stopped. Boy is smile is stunning...what am I saying? Jesse's is way better. He's way better than Damon, in more ways than one too, she thought to herself. "Would you stop doing that?" Elizabeth asked.
"Stop doing what?" Damon replied calmly.
"You know what you're doing! I'm not stupid!"
"Well, I can't stop doing whatever, because I'm not doing anything."
"If you have to come to the dance, then hurry up! I don't have time to wait for you to dilly-dally!" Elizabeth blinked, and Damon was gone. She went back to her mirror and frowned. Something was missing. She decided the outfit needed earrings. She walked to her dresser, picked up her favorite pair, then walked back to her mirror. Putting them in, she sighed. She put on her heels and looked at the clock, seeing the numbers blink that it was 6:30. She had a half hour to get to the dance, and Damon still wasn't back. Grunting, she picked up a pad of paper and a pen. In her neat writing, she quickly scrolled:
Damon,
You weren't back yet; Jesse was at the door. I didn't want to be late, so I left. If you want to get there, here's the directions:
Turn left on Sycamore Street
Turn right on the third turn
Then follow the road straight
When you get to the stop sign, turn left
Follow the road, you can't miss the school
After she wrote the note and she was satisfied, she walked down stairs to answer the door just as the doorbell rang. Opening it, and after seeing it was Jesse, she smiled.
"I've been waiting for you! What took you so long?" he asked.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "I had an unexpected guest come, and it took me off guard."
"Well, that's fine as long as we're together now," he murmured.
She looked up into his big brown eyes and smiled. She kissed him gently. "We're so lucky my parents will be gone in Hawaii for a couple of months," she whispered against his lips. She took his hand and pulled him to the car.
A half hour later, they were there. "Thank you," Elizabeth told Jesse politely as he opened up her car door. Intertwining her fingers in his, they headed to the door. Instantly everyone swarmed them.
"Hey, you made it!"
"Oh my gosh! Your dress looks great!"
"Hey, Elizabeth! You look amazing!"
She replied to the usual greetings. She gave her best smile and looked at Jesse. She could tell he was overwhelmed. He was still taking time to get used to being popular. "You're fine, just don't overreact," Elizabeth told him reassuringly. She continued to the dance floor and stopped.
"Excuse me," she told everyone. She walked quickly over to the punch bowl. "I didn't thikn you'd come," she whispered.
"You invited me, and I didn't want to be rude and not show up," he smiled at her.
Elizabeth looked at Damon, and she felt her heart skip a couple beats. He was still in all black, but he was at least dressier. And even when he walked like a normal human and didn't smoothly glide everywhere, he was still inhumanly beautiful. She looked at his eyes, and insteadof the usual blood red they were an extremely light blue.
"Wow," she muttered, barely audible.
"Well I was hoping to get some good reactions," he chuckled. "So, are you going to introduce me to your boyfriend or not?"
Not done.
