Dear Icecube:
I don't know why I'm writing here. I'm too busy, I hate diaries, I DON"T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE! I even tease Taka, my sister about them.
Before my angry rant goes longer, I guess I have to introduce everyone.

This is Taka, my only sister and the most sullen, despairing, angry, annoying thing EVER BORN.

My dad Shadow, who is actually pretty cool. But his parents weren't from a different country. So who names a kid "Shadow?"

My brother Nyx, who is also my best friend.

My mom Kiri, who is really athletic and fun.

And this is me, the most wondderful thing on the planet and Kallie's Boyfriend! (It's a "proper noun." I used it right.)

So you see, we are a very mixmatched family. Taka is the only one who shows we are Hybrids. She has the one flop ear. Nyx and I are both pointy-eared.

So anyway- Dad decided to ship us to camp. A camp that trains us for jobs. Jobs that we eventually have to DO for a LIVING!
And here we are, in Pets without a group, freezing our tails off, waiting for thing that never come. We're supposed to "help raise, comfort and take care of" sick, new, young and scared pets.
Joy.
Of course, when there's trades, we have some other kids, but we can't make friends cause then they just have to leave again when they're sorted into a new group.
Dad called us "guardians" and other weird stuff, like he thought it might make us say:
"Oh, Dad, I'm so sorry! I love this job! Let me stay here until my tail does freeze off!"
Yeah. Right.
Speaking of Dad, he and Mom are getting kinda weird. When animals get married here, they decide which group they're going to live in. It's usually a draw-straws kind of thing, and Mom and Dad got to live in Dad's old neighborhood, the Wolf Block. Mom was kind of sad, because she was born and raised on 2-Gen Block, which is a block for a sort of special bloodline. Mom says that since I'm half 2-Gen, I can live there when I grow up. Now when she says "half 2-Gen," she sort of glares at my dad. Like it's his fault. It is, but she wanted to marry him. So why aren't they still happy?

Dear Icecube,
I thought about changing your name to something cooler. Like Sam. I could say I was writing to a kid named Sam. Or something like Rocket, or... I dunno.
First day on the job. I HATE it, but there's a girl there....

Her name is Rainbow Art! Um, so who names a kid that? So it's not as bad as our teacher Mr Zooka:

But still, she's really pretty... And nice.... And artstic....
Ooh, who ya daydreaming about, Silver?
AAH! Go AWAY, Taka!
Really, who are you talking about? Oh, Rainbo- SHUT UP!
Okay, they're gone now. But seriously, what are you gonna do?

Dear Icecube,
Really, I feel kinda stupid writing to an imaginary being named Icecube. Taka says I am stupid, but that's what she tells everyone. She also says that Rainbow Art (or Rainbow, her nickname) will never like me back. But still...
Second day at Camp Boremyselftodeath. There's another few wolves here, and a dog too.

Ivie, the first girl. She's kinda hotheaded.

Here's her brother Calix. They're both Greek, that's why they have weird names.

This is Arethusa. She likes to go by Aris. I did some research, and Arethusa means "the waterer" (?) and Aris means "best." If Rainbow and I split up, she's backup.
Oh, and there's a new puppy, named Jetti. She's pretty sick. I thought everyone would want to take her on, but whenever I ask why they didn't Rainbow just looks at me sad and says:
"She's not going to make it, Silver. There's no point in getting attached to a puppy that's going to die."
She looks like it's happened to her.
I want to save Jetti-and Rainbow- from the sadness of losing her life.
I'm taking her on.

Dear Icecube,
Here's a picture of Jetti:

I found out today that Jet's a 3-Gen. That means her mother and father where 2-Gens! So we're sort of related. She could be my cousin.
Anyway, a conversation with Ivie goes like this:
Me: Jetti's getting better.
Ivie: Um. Yeah. What's wrong with you?
Me: Well, she IS!
Ivie: And I just learned to fly. Go away, Dreamworks.

NO. WAY. I can't believe she called me that! Ivie knows I hate Dreamworks. Take Cars. That movie is essentially a bunch of talking, motorized vehicles running around and singing stupid songs!
Just like you!
Shut up.
I'm telling Mom.
Mom's not here and your phone is dead.
I'm telling Mom when we get home.
Ha! Good luck.

Anyway, remember what I said about school? Well, Mr. Zooka is our techer. He goes by Mr. Rain now. He's actually pretty cool.
I talked to Rainbow Art today! She doesn't know me. But Arethusa talked to me!:
Arethusa: So, I heard you took on Jetti.
Me: Yeah.
Arethusa: That's really cool. Mind if I help at all?
Me: No.
Arethusa: Well, see ya tomorrow!
Me: Bye!

And, I found out, Arethusa is in my dorm! Well, it's a two-bed cabin with a bathroom, but still! And by the way, it's got brick walls.

Dear Icecube:
There's another pet today. A little Border Collie thing. Taka, Ivie, Rainbow and Calix said everything about it that they said about Jet. Her name is Astra:

Aris (Arethusa's nickname) says it means "sent from above" in Greek. I can tell why; Astra looks like she was already dying when she was born here.
The other puppies in Astra's litter are all grown now. It's only little Astra that stayed. Probably because she's half dead.
Aris and I are taking care of Jet and Astra. We've gotten really close...
I'm just scared for Astra. None of the medical supplies are small enough for her. I hope she can pull through.
On the bright side, tomorrow I'll turn 18.

Dear Icecube,
Today was my birthday. I'm legally an adult! So is Aris, so we're all on the same page now. We spent the time after the party taking care of Astra and Jet. I'm seriously considering asking Aris out. She's helped so much with Jetti that she would have died.
She's that sick.
Well, Jetti's getting better, at least. Astra's worse, if not the same. We tried everything. But the thermometers are too small, the blankets don't fit, and the medicine-
Wait! I just had a brilliant idea.

We've got a new inmate. His name's Soot. He's quieter than Ivie but friendlier than Calix.
Jetti's getting better. I hope she grows up soon.
Astra is still too small, but she can breathe easier now.
Not much time, there's a field trip going on.
