The tapestry stares back at me in the hallway. The soulless eyes, strangely alive, heavy the air, making it impossible to tear my eyes away. There is a woman there. A woman whose face is so alike to a human, she's made me jump numerous times. Something about the way she stares unblinkingly into the empty wall is incredibly unnerving. Perhaps the second I looked away the eyes would flicker. Perhaps the second I left a voice would ring out from those all-too-perfect lips. The artist must have intended this effect. My heart pounds as I expect her to reach out and touch my cool skin. Her gaze weights upon my mind, triggering my fight-or-flight reaction. I must escape her perfectly symmetrical eyes. Must escape those perfect features that are but a tad bit off, enough to make my mind blur reality into terror. Her eyes have locked me in place. I rush out of the hallway. I’ve finally left. “Until tomorrow,” I whisper.
