• Full Name :: Luca Alik Gavin

§ delving, diving deeper §
• Personality :: Much unlike his sister Emma, Luca is instantly friendly. While it takes a while to get past her shy silence, Luca is a warm soul with a soft heart. His happy chatter is easily detected, and he’s not afraid to make friends. Once Luca decides he likes you, you’re stuck with him. For a long time. If he doesn’t like you, he makes no attempt to show it, or make life horrible. So even if you’re older than him, he’s got the big brother thing down to the last detail. Being the big brother of two little girls was hard work. ‘Till it was just one, anti-social little girl. Then something inside him changed. Not just the big brother who teases you, and fends off the bullies, but now the big brother who would lay his life down for you. Luca is willing to sacrifice anything to save his sister, even his life and soul. He would travel to Hell and back if it meant keeping Emma safe. Much the same with his friends. Once he dubs you a friend, he commits himself to you. He’ll lay down his life for you, he’ll protect you and guard you; even if you’re older than him.
• Crush :: "I love people. Equally. I’m not going to favor anyone, except Emma. She’s the most important. And she’s my
sister."
• History :: The usual. Reach age three and have two twin sisters brought into the family. Reach age five, go to school. Reach age seven, protect your sisters from the bullies at school. Around age ten or eleven, go to middle school.
That’s when his life changed. Drastically. Emma and Amelia’s birthday, on the way to the restaurant. They were stuck behind the tracks as a train passed. When it was finally gone, they drove on to an intersection to find a red light. Father pressed the brake, and they stopped to wait. From their spot in the intersection, there was no way to see the other side of the light. So when their side turned green, Father gently nudged the gas pedal and they drove forward.
Little did they know that the other side of the light went straight from green to red; the semi never had time to stop. The impact spun the tiny car off the side of the road, where it flipped several times, very well totaled. The rain had made the road slippery, and impact caused the semi’s tires to slide, throwing it into a ditch. The sudden drop and harsh connection of steel and stone crushed the cab inwards, killing the driver.
Meanwhile, the car that had been totaled held a family of five. Father, Mother, and Amelia were dead, never to return. Luca had somehow survived with a broken arm, several cuts and bruises, a few deep gashes, and a bad concussion. He pulled himself out of the car, then dragged his unconscious sister out. Emma fared much worse. The tiny eight-year-old had several broken ribs, a broken wrist, fractured shin, a few broken toes, a snapped collar bone, a concussion, and seemingly impossible numbers of bruises, cuts, and gashes.
Luca feared the one living member of his family may have died as well, as he struggled to pull her away from the crushed vehicle, the rain making the ground slippery and the light fade. Then she opened her eyes. The sight wasn’t pretty. What she had managed to see was the most horrible thing.
Even in the thunderstorm, the car managed to explode, due to the sudden piercing of the gas tank. It had been a miracle Luca had dragged them to safety in that small amount of time. The flames danced in the rain, enveloping the body of the car and incinerating the bodies of their family.
Luca waited, struggling to stay awake through the concussion. Spots of black swarmed across his vision, and dizziness created nausea that threatened to overwhelm him. Hours passed. The storm got worse. The sky darkened. The sun that had been hidden by clouds disappeared altogether, hiding the world in darkness. The temperature dropped, and the rain continued. The intersection was normally fairly busy, but no one passed the flaming wreckage for hours on end.
Finally, a storm crew rolled up. Everyone was shocked at all the destruction, even after authorities arrived. It was confirmed that the burnt corpses in the obliterated car were killed on impact, and the driver of the semi really was dead.
As for the two children, later known to be only eleven and eight, where sent off to a hospital. The boy recovered first, after several weeks of treatment for his concussion, and a brace for his newly healed arm. He was permitted to see his sister, who was faring worse. Waking up for brief seconds was common during her first day in the facility. During the night after the crash, she slipped into a coma. The doctors first believed this was good. The energy generated would help heal the broken bones, and ease the pain of the concussion. But after a month, when Luca was released, she was showing no signs of waking up. Her brain activity was slowly declining. Then one day, seven weeks after the collision, she suddenly jolted awake with a scream. Immediately, she dissolved into screams and tears of pain. Luca was extracted from the orphanage he had been staying at to see her. He was now the one calm spot in the hurricane of her life. When she was finally released, still many weeks after, she was sent to the same orphanage as her brother.
He prompted her to make friends, but she refused. She wouldn’t speak, or make a sound, to anyone but him. Luca allowed this, finally setting his heart on saving her from anything the world had to offer. So when the creators of Project Evolution were collecting their teens, four years after their families death, Luca went with them willingly. He believed it would prevent them from harming Emma.
And they didn’t, physically. When she had been released from her first testing, Luca discovered they had made his sister an Elementist with the ability only to master fire at first. It wrecked her, driving her deeper into her shell. And so his commitment to his sister widened. No one,
no one would ever hurt his sister or friends. He wouldn’t let them get to his enemies, either.
• Family :: "Emma. Father, Mother, and Amelia were killed in the crash."
• Skills :: "I’m good at making friends, but I don’t think that counts. I’m pretty good at basketball, and I’m good with animals. I also used to ride horses alot, before... the crash."
• Failures :: "If I ever escape, I won’t try to get a license. I drove a go-cart once. It wasn’t that great of an ending. I doubt I’d be that good of a driver. And I can’t swim. Lame, I know, because we
did live on a lake."
• Fears :: "Uh- heights. And... well... vehicles. Any type. Anything that has a motor repels me."
§ standing in a mirror §
• Theme Song :: ‘Sissy’s Song’ by Alan Jackson, ‘My & My Gang’ by Rascal Flatts
• Other :: • Looks :: Luca has a scar across his right browbone, from one of the deeper cuts of the crash. This is really his only visible one, though he has several scars. His eyes are a soft blue-grey, always reflecting his soft heart. His hair is about the same color as Emma’s, though a bit scragglier and not nearly as long. He has some freckles along his cheeks and nose, but they aren’t very visible. He’s tall, which is surprising, because most his family is very short.
