Chapter 14

I awoke the next morning groggy and scared. Damne only gave me a smile and then we were off. I tell you walking in a night dress is horrible. Everytime my dress got caught all Damen would do was say "come along Rebecca." Once again my dress got caught and damen saud the same thing. Finally I got so angry that once I caught up with him I slapped him. He looked at me in surprise and then in confusion, I smiled tightly and said "I'm sick of this all you tell me is come along Rebecca. why don't you help me up and tell me where we are going?"

Damen sighed and said "because I'm, not allowed to tell you." I turned away and hugged myself, why were people hiding stuff from me? Then Damen wrapped his arms around me and whispered. "I'll tell you when we get there, now can we go?" I wiped my eyes and nodded He let go of me and continued on. I followed behind at a slow pace and Damen didn't say anything.

We stopped at a stream and he went off to find food. I sat at the edge and stared into the water. All I saw was me, a girl whose life was turned upside down. Only several days ago I was a peasant with little magic, now a had power at my fingertips. I sighed and then realized there was another face in the water. I turned to see Owen and he grinned. I could only stare and he said "come let's go before he gets back."

Just then Damen came back and stopped dead. I turned back to Owen to see him pull out a sword, I stepped back and watched Damen do the same thing. They circled for a moment and then Damen made the first move. Then all I could see was and flashing of metal and hearng the clashing of the swords. This went on for what seemed like forever, until I heard a moan of pain and Owen was holding his bleeding arm. Damen turned to me and said "come on Rebecca let's go before he brings backup."

I wanted to go with Damen but then I wanted to take care of Owen first. I looked to both of them and said to Damen I wanna take care of something first." He nodded and walked on ahead, Owen looked at me and I only smiled. Reaching for his arm I placed my hand on his wound, then closed my eyes. I then whispered "chiga," a light passed through my hand and the wound closed neatly. Owen smiled and said "I'll follow and get you okay?" I pleaded with my eyes for him to not do it but he only shook his head and left.

I watched him walk away and then I turned to catch up with Damen. He was waiting for me a few miles later. He didn't stare at me but said "you healed him didn't you?" I looked away and replied "only because I didn't want him to bleed to death." Damen frowned and asked "you didn't heal him completely did you?" I bit my lip and mumbled no." He let out a sigh and said "okay Rebecca we'll stop here for the night." I frowned and then walked away.

When I came back the camp was set up and Damen was already sleeping. I huffed and then sat down shivering, it was cold out and I was only in a thin silk dress. After a while I heard a small twig snap and Owen stepped out of the bushes. I stood, looking away from him, he walked toward me and said "if you don't want to come I'll understand." I looked at him and replied "I want to go, but your father will only use me," Owen nodded and then said "I know and understand. But know this Rebecca whatever you choose I'll be with every step of the way." I sucked in a breath of air and stared, this meant that he loved me.

Chapter 15

A few days later I was sitting in a bed thinking about what happened the day I meet Damen's king. After Owen had left me I stared into the fire thinking about what he said until I fell asleep. We woke up the next morning and were off, we reached a large manor a few hours later. It was nice but then I realized it was the castle of Seminar, I stepped back and Damen only lead me in. We entered the large hall and then I saw the King, he looked just like King Benedict (maybe it was because they were brothers). King Richard smiled and stood, I bowed before and then waited for him to speak.

He looked me over and said to Damen "so this is Lagasiea weapon against us?" I winced, I didn't like being metioned of that. When I looked at him again he was laughing, when he finally stopped he saw my look of confusion and he said "fool you'd really think I'd steal your princess?" I nodded and he smirked "well you've been mistaking, your King only wanted to use you to attack us." I looked to the ground in shock, Owen had used me? Realizing that I lashed out with my magic and knocked several people over.
