Forgive and forget (A teens with powers story)

Postby luminescence » Mon Jul 18, 2011 5:05 pm

“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” ~Ray Bradbury

Okay so basically I got bored and decided to finally write a story to shut certain people up. I always thought of being an author but this is nothing and I know that. Read it if you'd like and let me know what ya thought, what you'd like to see and what you didn't like.

Please don't steal but then again this isn't worth stealing in my opinion.

Prologue?
Have you ever had a memory you just wished you could erase? A memory that has left a mark on your life, as it haunts you each and every second of the day. You wake up each morning hoping it was all just a dream but the reality sinks in. Sadly life decides to continue and you must stager on hoping for the better. For where are we without hope? My name is Rachel Daweson and I survived the fire. I remember it all as if it were yesterday. No I’m not some old lady telling her life story to those who pass by because the solitude got to her. I’m 15 not that it matters. Back on topic we have to admit when we hear that fire alarm sound none of us take it seriously. We think of it as a chance to skip out on class and work or to get some fresh air. But this time it was the real deal though no one knew till it was too late. Bobby knew not to test my anger but he did. Clara (May she rest in peace) stood up for me even though I saw the fear in her eyes. And then there was Mr. O’Neil who could have stopped it all if he didn’t decide to take a leak in the middle of class.

“Lay off!” Clara barked coming to my aid. Bobby snickered as I fought back tears that had yet to form. I never cried at least not in public and wasn’t about to let him win.
“What?” Bobby acted all innocently.
“You know just what!” My friend exploded which just amused Bobby even more.
“Clara….It’s alright.” My throat was dry and my voice was weak compared to Clara’s but I somehow managed to get the words out. I put my hand on her shoulder easing her slowly away from the bully.
“No it’s not Rachel! He’s gone too far this time!” Clara shouted but not at me as she shook my hand off and went right up to Bobby.
“Now quit it before I-“
“You’ll what?” Bobby sneered as the crowd around us stood and watched the back and forth. But that was just it. There was nothing Clara could do other then tell a teacher who seemed to have evaporated. Bobby is that kid in your class no one messes with and doesn’t tell on. He’s only human and you all know that but there’s still a part that believes he’s an all powerful demon. Sure you could go running to a teacher showing them the bruises and scrapes but after the detention he’ll get you back way worse. My vision got blurry as I desperately glanced once more towards the door for Mr. O’Neil.
“Aww! Is poor baby going to cry for their mommy and daddy?” Bobby taunted. I knew the rumours that flew around the school about what happened to my parents. No one knew the real story though not even Clara knew.
“Bobby! Cut it-“
“SHUT UP!” Bobby roared before pushing Clara to the floor. I clenched my hands as I knelt down beside her.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” My voice was quiet but firm and my tears were replaced with anger.
“Yeah what you gonna do ’bout it Daweson?” Bobby asked but I detected a hint of fear in his voice. Everything after happened all too fast as someone shouted”fire”. The fire alarm went off and as if on cue Mr. O’Neil burst into the classroom with the extinguisher. But it was too late as the fire consumed the entire room blocking the door, our only exit. I watched as my friend’s, classmates, Bobby’s and Mr. O’Neil’s bodies burned and horrible memories flooded back. I saw my parent’s bodies burning with them and tears flooded my eyes once more. “I’m so sorry.” I whispered then everything went black.

I woke up in the hospital couple of days after the incident with my aunt by my side. She looked like she had barely slept but still had a warm face when I opened my eyes. She told me about the many deaths and how lucky I was to have survived at all. Tears rolled down my cheek as she told me I’d have to miss Clara’s funeral because of my condition. I told her I was fine but she was refused to hear it despite the fact my skin was scarce of burns and injuries. The doctor said it was strange and I was just lucky but I knew the real reason. My teacher once told me when impossible things happen it is human nature to make excuse to cover it up. For example if a ghost was caught on film it wouldn’t make the news because they’d say something like “Great computer skills.” Or “It clearly a person.” It was the same thing when I told my aunt for the thousandth time I created the fire. That was my first mistake. My second was telling Dr. Brown (My therapist) about my parents death.

Dr. Brown wasn’t anything like you’d picture a therapist to be. You think a man in his late forty with a half bald head, glasses and a funny suit. Dr. Brown was the complete opposite. He looked like he’d step out of the pages of the New York Times magazines. Maybe that’s why I didn’t mind going to see him every Tuesday and Thursdays. He could make learning about Geometrical frustration look good. I did get annoyed with the same old routine though.
“Rachel you understand that you weren’t responsible for your classmates and teacher’s death.”
I looked him in the eyes. His gorgeous blue eyes that scream say yes so I can go home but I simply replied “I was.”
He let out the sigh he had been holding in for some time.
“How? Have you studied science?”
“Yes.”
“Then you know that to create a fire you need oxygen, fuel and a spark.” He said as he listed them off on his fingers. “You didn’t have those things so how could you have possible started the fire.”
“I created it and this wasn’t my first time either!” I almost shouted at him tired of this game. He raise an eyebrow before giving me a small motion for me to continue now it was my turn to sigh. “When I was little my mother used to cook all sorts of things from Duck à l'orange to Chocolate Mousse. She would always be perfecting and trying out new things, learning from head chefs or at least those that would trust her with recipes.”
“Chefs take their recipes very seriously. I’m surprised your mother got any, some even become paranoid trying to keep them safe. Sorry continue.”
“As I was saying mom was always trying out new things and one day for dinner she made sushi and that’s where it went wrong.” I shook my head recalling the past and what a brat I’d been. “I-I hated it but she kept telling me to just finish my plate but I didn’t want to. I just exploded and threw the dish at the wall. My father told me to go to my room without dinner and I told him I hated him. I remember crying into my pillow then the smoke alarm went off and-” I couldn't continue as my breath went shaky and felt Dr. Brown’s hand on my knee but even that didn't help. “And I-I just murdered them....over sushi!”
Dr. Brown comforted me telling me it wasn’t my fault that my mom forgot about the turkey in the oven. I wished I could have believed him and the lies the police told everyone but how could I when I knew the truth. I heard him the next day talking to my doctors and my Aunt about me feeling guilty for everyone’s death which cased me to hallucinate. Bullsh!t. Which was why, at this very moment I was being driven to Alcott Academy School for mental teens. Okay it wasn’t exactly called that but that’s what it really was even though the entire cars ride my Aunt tried to convince me otherwise. “It’ll be better for you there…. You’ll make new friends…..It’s a fresh start……It’ll only be for a little while promise….” And so on. I just gazed out the window feeling betrayed. I didn’t understand. My Aunt, the one who had been there with me through it all was leaving me. Alcott Academy was a boarding for both sexes where teens could start their life anew I read the pamphlet that was sitting my lap. When I turned to the back page though there was a small yellow sticky note with the sentence “Things aren’t always what they seem.”
“Ha. Ha. Very funny.” I scoffed.
“What?” My Aunt asked not taking her eyes off the road.
“Things aren’t always what they seem?”
My Aunt had a puzzled look on her face but I wasn’t buying it for a second. I tossed the pamphlet to her when we stopped at a red light. “The sticky note, on the back.”
“There’s nothing here dearie.” My Aunt said returning it and placing her hands back on the wheel.
I grabbed the pamphlet and search every inches and shook it a few times waiting for the little note to fall out. Nothing.
“Never mind I’m just tired.” I murmured before falling asleep and trying to forget everything freaky in my life so trying to forget everything.

When I awoke I knew at once we were at the school, it was hard to miss something that big. I had to say (well not say I was still mad at my Aunt) it looked better then the picture in the pamphlet. It was a three story building with cream coloured bricks and seemed new but at the same time you got an ancient feel to it. A mound of block ceramic material complied neatly to form a structure of roof towers over me. The large black Victorian styled gates had the initials A.A on them as the sedan pulled in. As I opened my door to get out my Aunt grabbed me by one arm and choked me back. I felt her tears and listen to her muffled words and tried to get a better meaning of them I softly spoke “I’ll miss you too.” Either of us knew for how long I’d be staying here so we sat in that awkward position for some time. Finally I couldn’t take the cup holder and its mark it probably left on my butt I got out of the car and waved as my Aunts sedan pulled away. I stretched a couple of times just to make sure none of my bones had been broken in that bear hug then walked towards the school. I stopped short unsure of where to go and started wishing my Aunt was with me so I wouldn’t be single out like this. People weren’t staring at me or anything but I felt a pair of eyes on me. A little boy with curly brown hair and freckles came running at me. “Your….Rachel?....” He panted as I nodded wondering how he knew. He waved his hand singling me to follow him but didn’t say another word cause I’m pretty sure he couldn’t. He pointed a door and when I had turn to say thanks he was already gone. Things didn’t make sense but in my life it never did so I ignored it. Inside the room it looked like an office with calm blue walls and quotes all over that gave off a very friendly feeling. A parrot squawked and said “He’ll see you now.”
“Thanks…” I replied feeling a bit silly saying thanks to a bird but then again ton of people talked to their plants. The office was different then what I had expected as I sat down on the red couch. I took a look at the pictures on the shelves and reading titles of awards and books. “Took that one in Hawaii” Said a voice as I realized the head was sitting in the room the whole time. “Sorry sir. I-I didn’t see you.” I began when he cut me off.
“That’s right you didn’t.” Seeing my puzzled face he continued. “I’m sure you got my note?”
“Y-Your note?”
“Yes my note.” He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the same yellow note that was on the pamphlet.
“But how did you-“
“Things aren’t always what they seem Miss Daweson. You see, we’re all different some can shift into animals or create Illusion or even fire.” He paused looked at me then continued. “Whether this was a gift or a curse we do not know but as humans we are smart enough to use them to our ability. You see Miss Daweson everyone at this school is here for a reason whether it be they were caught or their parents knew and put them here. Some get here by chance other get thousands of pamphlets each day in the mail until their Aunt finally decides to en roll their niece….with some metal persuasion of course.”
“You brainwashed my Aunt?” I asked trying to wrap my head around the information I’ve just been given.
“No. Not exactly brain wash just gave her a little push in the right direction.”
I thought about it all for a while then asked a bit shocked.”Are you using it on me right now?”
“Yes but just to help you understand.” He smiled warmly even though what he was doing seemed very evil. “I’m not evil Miss Daweson I’m just here to help you. You’ll find it the same with all the other teachers and certain senior students. Now I won’t hold you any further you must be eager to see your new room so off to it. If you have any questions feel free to stop by.” He stood up and put out a hand. “It was a pleasure meeting you but I have some business to attend to that shouldn’t be put off a tad longer.”
“Sir, if you don’t mind me asking what exactly is your umm ability.” I pondered
“I’m sure you can find some rumours floating around.” He winked before disappearing...Literally. I gaped at the spot he was standing before finally gathering my wits and leaving. After I said good bye to the secretary/parrot I felt like I had a bit more control over myself and couldn’t believe any of this. It was crazy like something out of a movie but it was REAL! I mean this was real life yet I couldn’t fully grasp what the head master had said and realized I didn’t even know his name. I got some directions for my room from some friendly faces and teachers. The first floor was where the girls stayed and took the second. Apparently classes were on third as I felt an urge to explore but knew there’d be time later because right now my suitcase and duffel bag were killing me. The place was quite liveable I thought passing the “chill out” area which was on the first floor but both genders were allowed to hang out as long as there was no P.D.A. A couple of girls welcomed me before pointing me to a door which led to the rooms. I stopped in front of room 204 hoping it was anything but white walls. I was sure they would drive me insane if everything was white. I slowly clicked opened the door and wasn’t too sure what I was expecting but defiantly not a chimpanzee reading a book. “Hiya! I’m your new roommate!” It chirped as I dropped my bags and let out a scream.

Apparently letting out high-pitch-peed-my-pants screams were natural at Alcott Academy since no one came running. “Whoops. Sorry didn’t me to scare you! I’m Katy!” It jumped off the bed swung on the chandelier (Which was gorgeous by the way ) and landed right in front of me. “But everyone calls me Kat!” It chirped. I watched as before my eyes it shifted into a girl about my age with long curly black hair kind of like a bob cut and golden-bronze skin. “I-I’m Rachel.” I managed to get out still in shock.
“Cool you have a stutter? I knew a guy once, well I technically didn’t know him but anyways he had a stutter but it was wayyy worse than yours. He could barely get past the “My name is-“and I almost-“
“I don’t have a stutter!” I laughed at the girl who rambling as I wondered if she was nervous or she was just like that. “Just a little caught off guard I guess.”
“New here?” She asked helping me with my bags.
“Yeah, thanks.”
I glanced around the room which didn’t have white walls but my said was a baby blue and Kat’s bright purple. I adored the beech wood furniture though and the seashells on the top of the dresser. There were a darker blue swirls painted on the walls to look like waves as I ran my hand over them and swore I smelt the salty water, suntan lotion and French fries.
“Pretty cool huh?” Kat asked which is when I realized how I’d been inspecting out room for some time now.”I’m not too sure on how it works but its better not to ask. It takes images or favourite memories from your head and displays it as a room.”
Again with the invasion of privacy I thought to myself before checking out Kat’s side. Her side was a bit spunkier then mine was as I stepped over the imagery divider. Kat’s wall had black music notes and a concert feel to it and couldn’t help but stare at her black cat clock and follow its eyes moving left, right, left, right…. Her dresser was also white but on top were lava lamps, books and some pictures. It was very…Kat and even though I just met her I felt like I knew her. “That’s a pretty one.” I smiled pointing to a picture with Kat about 6 years old, chocolate frosting all over her face. “Hey! That was good cake.” She laughed coming to my side. I decided to try it out as I closed my eyes and hoped it would work instead of me ending up looking stupid. The bed was the only thing bugging me as I imagined turquoise mattress and a bluer comforter and pillows with white lily patterns all over. When I opened my eyes it looked even better but something was missing. A second later a stuffed monkey sat on the bed. “I think I’ll name it Kat.”A smug smile crept across my face and that’s all it took to start a pillow fight which was a great way to celebrate being roomies. I always wanted to have a sister that could be my friend not an annoying brat but Aunt Megan never had any kids. I smiled as Kat and I plopped onto our beds. There was a silence for the first time as we both listened to it calm us down….well Kat silently gawked at her large poster of David Tennant which was on the ceiling. “You know he’s too old for you.” I threw a turquoise beanie pillow at her. It worked as she came back down to earth. “It could work. We both have British accents.” She smiled hugging my pillow while daydreaming. I hadn’t noticed the accent till she mentioned it and now I wouldn’t be able to get it off my mind. My stomach let out a growl as I left to search for a kitchen alone. Kat said she wanted to finish her book since she was on the last chapter and would catch up with me later. I was so eager to explore the place that I had forgotten to ask her where I could get some food. I was too lazy to head back and wandered aimlessly through the halls. After finding the snack room I grabbed some cookies and had to admit I was feeling a whole lot better. Apparently the snack room had some sort of an enchantment that made all the food in the room cooked right to the perfect temperature. Which is why when I picked up some chocolate chip cookies they were cold but as soon as I bit into them they were warm and moist. After my fifth cookie I felt a pang of guilt in my stomach. Here I was happily munching away on chocolate chip cookies when I had hurt so many families and ruined so many lives. Even Bobby had a mother (I know hard to believe.) who visited me at the hospital and poured out her feelings on how it was all her fault he was dead. She wouldn’t have said any of that though if she knew I was awake and trying my best not to tell her I killed her son. I returned back to life when I heard a voice behind me say “You shouldn’t eat too many treats or you’ll spoil dinner.” When I spun around I saw a boy with white skin and black long hair tied in a ponytail. He had a smile upon his face which wasn’t really a smile…His clothes were what took me by surprise the most as he wore a long red coat that had a pirate feel to it and black trousers. It had a vintage feel to it all he was missing was the rich moustache and black walking stick to complete it but it worked on him instead of making him look “out of style”. I realized I had been staring at him for far too long which made him grin devilishly as I forced my cheeks to not blush. “What can I say? I have a weakness for sweet thing.” I smiled back acting like he wasn’t the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. Maybe he took what I said flirting as he jumped off the counter and moved in closer. He reached behind me and pulled out a cookie from the jar his face inches away from mine. “So do I.” He replied his breath smelled minty as I tried my best not to quiver or do anything girly of the sort. I was great at acting and my drama coach told me that I might have a shot at Broadway but I think it’s safe to say all normal jobs are out of reach for me now. After what seemed like ages he pulled away but not before saying “See you around Rachel.” leaving me alone with my thoughts. Inside my body was going crazy as I calmly reached for a bag of chips for Kat and raced down the hall.
“So you’re saying you have no idea who mystery boy is or how he knows my name?” I asked Kat the next morning while getting ready for class. I was both nervous and excited for my first class but mostly curious.
“I didn’t say that.” Kat replied deciding whether to wear a paint spattered dress with neon green legging or a pink abstract like sweater with blue faded jeans. “There are just too many people to remember. New students, old students and some people are just plain strange.” She made a face like she was having a flashback.
“Like you? Go with the dress.” I helped her while sitting on my bed waiting for her to finish up. Kat said what you wear on the first day was very, very crucial but she said it with such a serious face I couldn’t tell if she was serious or just pulling my leg
“No not like me.” Kat smiled taking what I said as a complement and it was. I wished I could be more outgoing like she was but then again something told me that wasn’t possible. “Just strange and this guy sounds like he fits the category.” She told me as we walked down the halls towards the elevator. “Maybe he can read minds.” She suggested pushing the elevator button. I hope she was wrong because I was thinking many embarrassing things when I first saw him. I guess I made a face again because she quickly added “Maybe not.” I decided to change the subject since we weren’t getting anywhere with this.
“There’s no privacy in this school is there?” I sighed following Kat since I had no idea where to go.”How long have you been here Kat?” It was a question that I was both intrigued to find out and didn’t want to hear the answer. Kat was quiet for some time and it scared me because this girl hadn’t stopped talking ever since we’ve met. I was just about to ask her if she’s alright when she replied “My parents dropped me off her when I was 13 which is the youngest age they’ll accept. I sometimes wondered if my parents knew the whole time and were just waiting to get rid of me or…”Her voice trailed off as I put my hand on her shoulder and smiled. “Well they sure are missing out on something.”
“Thanks.” She slowly broke into a grinned but I could tell she was still thinking about it. I know I just arrived here but there was one question that was probably itching at me the most so I asked it. “Kat, when do we get…out?”
“Out?” She repeated it like it was a foreign word but didn’t get a chance to get me a better answer because just then the door to the classroom opened. I thought I was ready anything…boy was I wrong.

You’d think after Mr. O’Neil there would be some law about teachers leaving their students unsupervised but no. I stood there in the doorway staring at well everyone and everything when Kat put her arm around my shoulder and with a smug smile said “Welcome to our world.” It was total chaos as I ducked down to avoid a floating chair. “Sorry!” A boy who looked younger than me shouted as he chased after it. “This place is a zoo.” I told Kat entering the classroom with caution.”I mean all its missing is a few wild animals.” I bit my tongue but there was no taking back what I had said as I prayed I didn’t just give Kat an idea. “Oh that could be arranged.” Kat grinned wickedly and jumped out the window. I was caught off guard and rushed over to the window expected her dead body 30 feet below. “Kat!” I yelled as a blue bird fluttered in front of me. “Oh keep your panted on.” It chirped. “Just hear me out I’ll just go get a few of my friends and then we’ll-“
“No.” I replied grabbing the little thing in my hands and closing the window. “Party pooper.” She muttered under her breath shifting back to her normal self. I was about to lecture her when something knock me over and I knew I wouldn't be leaving this class without breaking something. I groaned before shaking my head trying to figure out what happened since I didn’t feel anybody bump into me when I heard a familiar voice say “Need a hand?” I opened my eyes to see mystery boy smirking leaning me a hand. “I’m good.” I tried not to groan as I got up myself not wanting him to feel my sweaty palms. “Next time, watch where you’re going.” I crossed my arms trying to wipe the sweat on my sleeves without making it obvious. “That wasn’t me. That would have been Keith.” He smirked before pointing at Kat –who was now in the form of Cheetah- chasing a person around the classroom. Well it was more of a blur but I could still tell it was a shape for a human who seemed to be having fun with this little game of cat and mouse. He stopped with his hands on his knees and at first I thought it was because he was exhausted. Then I noticed he was laughing but not for long though as the cheetah knocked him over and in seconds had him pinned to the floor. “Now I know this is hard but be try to be a gentleman and apologize.” Growled Kat. Keith however kept his cool and simply replied “Down kitty.” I could tell Kat was tempted for snap his head off but she didn’t get a chance as Keith disappeared and appeared inches away from me. “Besides she knows it was an accident.” He grinned as I got a good look at him for the first time. He had blonde messy hair that was sticking out in all the right places and dark blue eyes that just entranced me for a minute or two before he took off once more at the sound of Kat’s voice. “That’s not the point.” She shouted chasing after him as I stepped out to tell her it was alright. “Leave them.” Mystery boy told me and surprisingly I had forgotten he was even there.”They’re like that all the time.” He explained. “Keith just loves getting on peoples nerves but I think he might have a thing for her seeing as he gets off on her the most.” I wondered if Kat felt the same way about Keith or if she really did want to bite his head off as my hand brush slightly against his. I felt something go through me like a shock before realizing I didn’t even know his name. “I’m Logan by the way.” He added. “It’s not nice to read people’s minds without permission.” I said trying to clear my head of him but it was impossible. “I don’t read minds.” He smirked before sitting down. I wondered if that smile meant he was lying or telling the truth. He smiled so much I was starting to get suspicious. “What can you do?” He asked me the question I’d been dreading. You see unlike the other kids here I was terrified of using my power not wanting to cause any more harm. “I can create fire.” I replied simply hoping we wouldn’t dwell on the topic. His face changed as he looked at me. No it was more as if he was looking through me. “To err is only human to forgive is divine.” He quoted softly and at that moment I felt as if he knew everything, my entire past and maybe my future. “So your power is to know everything?” I asked half honestly not knowing what to believe anymore. “You flatter me but no. For it is impossible for one to know everything.” Logan replied calmly sounding a bit like Yoda. “You sound a lot like that crazy old coot of a headmaster.” I rolled me eyes watching Kat pin Keith once more. “I’d like to think so. Seeing as he’s my father.” Logan must have liked my face because he looked at me and smiled but I couldn’t have been more embarrassed. I buried my head in my arms wishing I could just disappear or take back what I said. Logan continues to laugh as the teacher walks in and with one look everyone if seated without another word. Seeing Kat and Keith wrestling on the floor she looks up as if to say God help me before clearing her throat. “If you and your boyfriend are done fooling around I’d like to get started.” The teacher tells them gently but you can hear the strain in her voice. Kat opens her mouth to argue with the statement but one stern look from the teacher has her shutting up. I see her mutter something to herself and slap Keith on the arm as if it’s all him fault she got in trouble. She sits down on the other side of me as I offer her a sympathy smile when she slips a note onto my desk. No worries. I’ll get him later. I shake my head at the two and have to agree with Logan that they were meant to be despite the little feud going on. “Returning students can take out their Body & Mind books and refresh your memories. Now, new students welcome to Alcott Academy.” The teacher began as she walked around the classroom. “You might find it difficult adjusting to our way of life but things will become easier. I am Mrs. Clark your homeroom teacher and supervision. Any sort of problem you can come to me.” Mrs. Clark announced. “I will not tolerate any bullying, skills misuse, immaturity, disrespect, vandalism….” Anyways by the time Mrs. Clark was done with the rules we only had half an hour left which was not enough time to accomplish anything….or so she though. We sat there in silence as I watched some of the younger students fall asleep and others pass notes only to have them taken away by Mrs. Clark. I watched the clock on the wall praying it would hurry up and sound the bell when it moved forward a bit. At first I thought I have was the one who had done it and a ecstatic feeling filled me thinking I had the power to control time. I could go back and save all of those I have killed and no lives would have been destroyed. But that’s when I saw it. A girl about my age was staring at the clock with so much force I swear I could see the veins popping out of her forehead. Suddenly the clocks hands started spinning faster and faster as the girl looked terrified as if she was unable to control it. Everyone was staring now wondering what was happening. The clock began to shake and the sound of the glass cracking sent all of us under our desks. I copied others and covered my head waiting for the worst when I heard a small pop as if someone had blown too much air into a balloon. I looked up over the desk to see a bit of smoke coming out of the clock and Mrs. Clark carefully inspecting it. It let out a strange ring but it was all that it took to have the whole class hurrying out not wanting to have to deal with another one or Mrs. Clark’s talks. “Talk about starting the day off with a bang.” Kat grinned as we headed out for some fresh air. I was starting to wonder how safe this place just really was.

Behind the school was where everybody hung out seeing as if we were all out in the front, it's cause unwanted attention. In other words the front grounds were off limits except for teachers and guards. It made sense to keep us in the back though, since they wouldn't be able to explain how a kid was floating something in mid-air with not strings attached. I don't think anybody really minded because aside from the giant fountain and gardens there wasn't much out there. The back was a completely different story. It was like they ensured that we'd stay in the back by making it over-the-top luxurious...not that I'm complaining. After that crazy morning all I wanted to do was go back to my room and relax. Kat obviously had other ideas as she put her arm around me, telling me she'd be my very own personal guide. "Why do I get the feeling this tour will include restricted areas?" I asked paying for the ice cream -Chocolate chip cookie dough for me and cotton candy for Kat- but she doesn't answer and just gives me one of her sly smiles. If I've learned anything it's that those smiles should bring me no comfort and nothing good ever came from them. We were in the middle of talking about campus rules (Or rules that Kat calls 'bendable') when a boy was tossed through the air and landed with a thud right in front of us. I dropped my cone and rush over placing his head in my lap but am shocked to see his face. "K-K-Keith?" I gasped unable to believe the black eyed puffy faced boy is the same one I met in class. It's his eyes that made me recognize him as Kat drops down beside me. Seriously though you'd only find these kind of deep blue in contacts except his was genuine."Who'd you get in a fight with this time?" Kat mutters wiping some blood off his cheek with her shirt. Her question was soon answered as a tall beefy boy comes into view and grabs Keith by the collar; holding him in the air like a rag doll. "You gonna apologize to my girlfriend now punk?" He snarls shoving him up against a tree as I wince. I think I hear Kat mutter something like 'figures' under her breath but I was too busy watching the scene to pay any attention. Keith just spits some blood onto the guy's face keeping his cheeky grin but that just earns him another blow to the face. "And the teachers are where?!?!" I turn to Kat who just shrugs as if this sort of thing happens everyday. She continues to lick her ice cream before seeing the look on my face and sighing. I watch her shift into a wolf and step in between the two boys growling at the bully. I got to admire her courage but the bully just sort of shoves her aside and continues to advance on Keith. I squeeze my eyes shut praying for a distraction so I don't have to watch Keith take other blow. But nothing happens. I peek my eyes open to see everyone staring at the tree Keith was earlier pushed up against on fire. I start to panic when everyone's eyes turn to me and I clutch my fist tightly. And then he comes, all calm and collected. He glances at the tree and back to me with a smirk before confronting the bully. "Enough, Bruce. You know Keith got a mouth and no idea how to use it." Logan says coolly as I notice Keith's about to protest when Kat growls shutting him up. Bruce the bully drops Keith and Logan takes him off to the side. After a while I see them shake hands and Bruce seems more calm as he walks away. Along with him the crowd departs as it seems people only like staying around for fights and not the clean up. "Your work I presume?" Logan asks looking at the burning tree before closing his eyes. When he opens them the tree's back to normal green and all as I walk up to it amazed. Placing a hand on it's bark I'm surprised it not even warm and turn back to Logan; arms crossed. "Okay come on, What's your 'skill'?" I ask but he just smiled and goes to help Keith up. I'm starting to doubt he'll every tell me seeing as this boy's a mystery. "Really? Bruce?" Kat asks helping Keith up from the other side. "Have you seen the body on Nikki?" Keith grins but Kat wipes that right off by slapping the back of his head. The boy needs someone keeping him in line and who better then a girl like Kat? "Ow! Injured here." Keith grumbles rubbing the sore spot as we all laugh making out way to the hospital ward.

The hospital wing was quite big actually and you wouldn't believe what some of the people there looked like. Logan tells me if you took these people to a normal hospital they'd be of no help seeing as all these injures were caused by powers. Bruce's was enhanced strength. Figures. We carefully lay Keith down on one of the beds but I can't help stare at the person beside him. Well not really a person. "Kat, is that a frog?" I ask not taking my eyes off the book reading frog. "I still have ears you know." It croaks facing the book down on it's lap. It lets me know it doesn't really want to talk and just wants to get back to it's book. "Sorry...what happened to you?" I ask before I can even stop myself. Something crashes but I keep my attention on the toad Out of the corner of my eye I can see Logan and the nurse struggling to give Keith a needle. "Let me put it this way; never date a witch." The toad croaks before returning to his book. I wonder how long the poor boy has to stay like that and what he did to deserve such a thing. "Maybe it's karma." Logan whispers in my ear. His warm breath sends goose bumps all over but I shoot him a look for reading my thoughts again. He completely ignores it and we turn our attention towards the nurse. Miss chow is a petite and frail women which is probably why she didn't Logan's help to inject Keith with whatever. You can tell your in good hands though just by looking at her and that gentle smile. "I'm afraid your friend will have to stay here a few days and will need someone to look after him." She sighs but not an annoyed one. It was more as if it broke her heart to know this was all one boy's doing. "Does that mean I get to skip class?" Keith asked hopefully downing a green liquid Miss chow handed him. I was a bit afraid to ask what was in it as Keith began to cough and gag. Miss chow waited till he was done to reply. "I'm sure Mrs. Clark will have a student bring you your work." The nurse laughed lightly taking the cup empty away before telling us we couldn't stay too long. Apparently it was dangerous for us to be there too long because some of the injures could be spread through touch or air. This fact has me holding my breath and slowly backing away. I don't want to become a warty frog and flies every day doesn't sound all that sweet either. I don't get far though as I bump into Logan's chest and look up to see him smiling. Okay now he's getting on my nerves but he just smirks and I take a few steps forward. This time when I look at Keith face most of the blood is gone but the bruises remain. I'm guessing the medicine isn't your normal medicine you buy from the drug store. "So which one of you are going to be looking after me?" Keith grins. Silence. "Kitty Kat?" He looks toward Kat who smacks him again for the nickname. "You know that hurts right?" Keith half laughed in pain. "Good! Maybe it'll loosen a few things up in there?" Kat mumbled placing a wet cloth on his forehead. "Kat please?" Keith says softly grabbed her hand and looked at her with those eyes. That's it, she's done for. There was no way even Kat could say no to those irresistible eyes as I watch her sigh. "Fine but I'm not helping you into the bath or anything." She smiles. "Deal." Keith looks up at her and the two realize we're both still here and drop their hands. "Well we've got class." Logan says smiling before leading me out the door. One last look at the two though and I can see them as a cute couple. I make a mental note to get into Kat's head tonight to find out what she really thinks about Keith. Well not 'get into' get into her head because I'm sure there are a lot of scary things in there. I'm going to need therapy again after visiting her head that's for sure. "I guess you were right about them." I tell Logan as we head back to the main building. "I'm right about a lot of things." He says with a soft chuckle and I realize he's talking about the whole forgiving and forgetting thing. The thing is it's easier said then done. You can't just forgive yourself after you've killed so many and decide to change the topic. "How long have you been in this ...place?" I ask not too sure why I'm so intrigued by people's past. I guess it's because it's a good place to begin as long as you don't talk about mine. "Ever since I can remember I guess." Logan replies as if he's having a flash back. "My father actually started this place. You see he knew about us and how we're different. He began to see us as a different race maybe even different species. He wasn't the only one though that knew about us. The government had some of our types and experimented on them. Not many survived and those that did didn't last that long after wards. After the got the information they needed they tossed the bodies away like yesterday's newspaper and those people were never heard of again. Just because someone's different doesn't mean they should be killed right?" Logan faces me and frowns. He can tell that he lost me at us being a different species. It's too much to take even though the things I've seen and can do says other wise. My head begins to pound at the load of information he'd just injected into my head when I feel him cup my face in his hand. I open my eyes to see him softly smiling and his eyes, they may not be Keith's hypnotizing blue but they have an entrancing ability of there own. The second his hand made contact with me the head ache disappeared and in it's place a smooth warmness filled me. I seem to have lost my ability to speak and he suddenly drops his hand. "I know it's a lot to take in so baby steps okay?" He says as we continue walking and I just nod. I still don't trust my vocal cords. "Where was I? Ahh yes. After My father found out about what was really happening he decided to make a school. Here we could learn to control our powers and develop our skills without having to worry about being taken away to some far concentration camp." He looks at me and I nod to let him know it's okay to continue. "It's all self learning actually. The teachers can only guide us since they don't posses the abilities we do. That's were all the mind and body things comes in." He explains as we walk in silence for a while. I guess he knows I'm still processing all the new information that has opened to me. "What about your mother?" I finally ask sitting down while waiting for class to begin. "I don't know much about her really.y My father says he showed her our life and it was just too much for her. She sort of lost it." His gaze is distant and I suddenly regret asking the question. "I'm sorry." I say softly and he just looks back at me with a smile. "It's not your fault." He replies and I know there's another side to that comment. We don't get to talk about it more as the teacher walks in and begins the lesson. My mind is still buzzing half way through class and I can't help it. It's a lot to take in on a first day and run a hand through my brown hair. Strange, it seems to be turning more red by the second. I push the weird though away and try to focus on Yoga.

As the students of Alcott academy did yoga to ‘cleanse their spirits and harness their energy and turning it into power’, what they didn’t know was they were being watched by two different sets of people. Both sets had two entirely different reasons and ways of achieving their goals. Both made it clear though nothing was standing in their way of getting these children. Course they’re underestimating these teens aren’t they?
“Have we got visual M19?” The voice crackled from the radio in the copter. “No sir negative.” Anderson replied running a hand through his sweaty dark hair nervously. How exactly did he end up in such a position? He knew what he had signed up for yet here he was 60 ft in mid air trying to make sense of things. Not that he had a problem with shooting at these people because from what he had been briefed this was a vital mission. These people were dangerous and it was his job to protect society from these creatures whatever the means. Still he couldn’t believe his eyes when he zoomed in on the sniper and saw students! They were kids merely children and he had been sent to kill them? He rubbed his eyes a few times before taking another look at his ‘target’ when they were all gone. “I’ve lost them sir.” He reported regretfully. No one had told him he had to shoot down some kids but his job was always full of surprises. It wasn’t as if he had a say in the matter either. He did what he was told and knew he’d get what was coming to him if he didn’t. He might have been fairly new to the whole thing but even he knew no one disobeyed orders. You did what you were told, end of story. “Must be time for class” The voice replied and there was a silence as if the man were debating what to do next. “Re-treat for now M19. We’ll let you know once we’ve hacked through that shield.” Anderson let out a small sigh before rubbing the sweat off his brow. Next time he knew he wouldn’t be so lucky and wouldn’t be allowed to think twice before pulling the trigger.

Meanwhile…

For such a frail woman you would never suspect she’d contain so much evil. The way she moved across the room it was almost as if she glided. Then again maybe she was for who knew what sort of powers the old witch contained. “Sebastian?” Her voice was barely above a whisper but you heard it alright. “Yes mistress?” The creature emerged from the shadows keeping his eyes on the ground the whole time. “What pray tell is that?” The white haired witch pointed into a floating sphere with a long slender finger. The creature finally looked up but was careful not to meet the witch’s eyes for he feared if he did he’d drop dead. “A girl, your highness.” It replied instantly looking towards the ground. The witch said no more and the creature to it that was his sign to go and needed no second telling before racing out of there. Taking off her hood once he had left she gazed into the sphere with intense ice blue eyes. It indeed was a girl but why was this girl singled out from the others? What made her so special? The image began to change as she watched the living fire spread across the towns. Burning anything that came in contact with it and then she looked back to the girl. Her eyes were now red with anger and the same for her hair as the corners of the witch’s mouth twitched slightly upward. ‘Such power in one so young but she has no idea of what’s she’s capable of.’She thought to herself. So many things began to form inside of her head; each plan more evil and cunning then the last. “I think it’s time I paid my dear brother and his school a visit.” She talked to herself as if it was the normal. Had she gone insane? Most likely but great ideas came from some of the worlds more crazy people. She ran a hand just over the bubble as if she were too afraid it would pop. ‘Soon.’ She thought watching the young girl laughing with her friends and would let her be for now. ‘Soon’.

Thank you! It's not really in chapters (I don't know what they are.) I'd kinda have to smoosh them together to create a chapter but that would mean changing the ending sentences and some beginning ones, plus to me they're to short to be chapters... Okay I'm blabbing again. My brain just keeps running sometimes and I can't really stop it. Okie dokies then I'll put chapter/thingy one up in a sec!

I did start an Alcott Academy RP but it sort of faded out. Anyways that RP was based on my story and this is just what I pictured it to go like. (Does that sentence make any sense?)
