I just feel like saying this...Calico or tortoiseshell Tom cats, are impossible to get UNLESS they are inbred. That is a fact, as I work for a place that helps to rehome cats, and the owner told me ^^ Also, some cats for example Bengal cats which a stare reed may be found in the wild, so it was most likely Leopardstar was a begal.

I know Leopardstar was possible but she was very unrealistic. As for tom calicos please find something on the internet for everything i see says nothing bout that

About the "Moon, Sun, and Star" prefixes:
In Bluestar's Prophecy, Thunderclan had a leader who was named Sunstar. Before that, he was Sunfall.
Also, in the OOTS serIes, there is another cat named Sunspot.
Another thing in Bluestar's Prophecy was Bluestar's mother, Moonflower.
So, I think it's okay, in some cases.

Are tortoiseshell cats always female?


Tortoiseshell and related colors (blue-cream, patched tabby, calico etc.) are the result of a sex-linked gene and require two X chromosomes to appear. Generally speaking, these colors will only appear in females. Very rarely, these colors may appear in male cats, but these males are genetically abnormal (they have XXY instead of the normal XY) and are almost always infertile.

I am saying they should be avoided but I do know they have been used in the books.
And besides, once upon a time ago the Erins said something along the lines that no mothers would name there kits after predators because it would be seen as bad, and that star, sun, moon, etc were sacred and mothers wouldn't name there kits after them. But of course she broke what she said. x_o
