Part 1
(All of this will be written in Fireflies point of view, unless stated other wise)
I walked through the quite, warm, forest night. Seeing no place to build a suitable den for the night, I kept walking. I had come into a normal routine of doing things. Wake up, find food, walk in what ever direction feels right for the day, rest at night. Most days where uneventful, but if I was lucky I would find another loner and have a friend for a few hours before we both went on our way. Today was one of those uneventful days, so I just kept walking. I would lose my self in my thoughts as I always did. But now.. I was finding that hard to do, I was tired and needed sleep.
Up ahead I seen a tree and smiled. If I could did under the roots, I had a home for the night. Running ahead, which made my blue hair flop in my face, I headed for the tree. Upon reaching it I smiled to myself, it was already dug out at the bottom. I plopped in and curled my dark tail around my body. Running my tongue over my forelegs and paws, I got comfortable. Soon the soothing rhythmic strokes started to lull me to sleep. Before I knew it, I was dead to the world in a deep sleep.
I felt eyes on me. How could that be? It was only me here! I looked around the foggy clearing I was standing in. Nothing was there... Odd.. The clearly started to fade and I awake. "Oh, just a dream." I mumbled to myself, curling my tail tighter to my body. But I still felt the eyes on me, just watching. I lifted my head and jumped slightly. Another wolf was standing above me at the entrance to the den. "Um... H-Hi." I stammered as I crawled from the tree. "Is this your den?" I wondered why I hadn't scented him in the den last night. Had I been that tired?
"Yes, but I'll be leaving today. I'm sorry if I scared you." He spoke to me and I really took in his appearance. He had a dark blue coat, with a blue circle on his back, outlined in a light blue. He had the same marking wrapping around his right back leg. Small purple dots made an odd shape on his front left ankle, and on his feet green claws poked out from the fur. A silver collar with a bright blue buckle stood out against his neck fur. Looking up to meet his eyes I noticed they where the brightest blue I had ever seen, aside from the one on his coat. "I'm Tonic." I smiled at his name, it fit him.
"I'm Fireflies. Are you a loner as well?" I asked tail wagging behind me.
He nodded his head, and black hair with light purple streaks shook. "But I plan on changing that." He smiled. "I want to join a pack. What about you, are you looking for a pack?"
I took in his words, no expression on my face. A pack didn't seem like much to me, being alone seemed just as good. "No, I never seen the appeal of a pack." I sat down and licked my sides where I had neon green dots forming a large swirl on each side. "I'd just prefer to stay by myself."
He looked taken aback. "Why? A pack means always having someone there for you. Friends to talk to. Knowing you never have to face the world alone." He smiled sightly and looked down as if he was remembering something. "I wouldn't be the wolf I am today with out the pack I had." His head raised, the smiled still there.
"I guess be-" Wait? Had? Why did he say had? "What do you mean 'had'? Did they kick you out?" My eyes widened and a smile grew with anticipation. A drama filled story was always the best thing about meeting other loners. I knew I had to look like a hyper-active pup, barely able to sit still. It happened whenever I was waiting on something good to happen.
"No. They where all killed in a fire that came through my camp." Tonic sighed. "I was lucky and got away. I'm sure others did as well, but I haven't seen any of them since. So I have been looking for a new pack. Yes, I do miss my old pack. And I know a new one wont take their place, but I can't stand being alone like this." His head had dropped again as he told of his pack. Being friendly, I nuzzled his head up with my muzzle.
"I'm sure you'll fine a nice pack soon, Tonic." I smiled a friendly smile. "If you want, I could join you until you find a pack. That way you wont be alone."
Tonic smiled back at me. "You would really do that, Fireflies?"
I nodded and thus began my journey to help a wolf find a pack.
