Midnight Lycan's Literature (posting open and welcome!)

Postby Chupa-Cabra » Sun Apr 03, 2011 10:50 pm

Hey there, everybody!
Since I need to improve my writing skills, I thought I would post stories as I think of them, and also some past work. All I ask is that you do not steal my poems, stories or whatever else I may post. I may sometimes also post a drawing I have done to go with the poetry or story. Please post critique and comments, I need to know how to improve.

Most things will be short descriptions of what I see of a certain animal or plant or object, from my point of view.

Thanks and please enjoy!
~Midnight Lycan

The Snake
(from the snake's point of view)
Here I was again. Slithering through the long, dry grass which rustled with each powerful, writhing movement my body made as it squirmed it's way towards my prey. The darkness made it hard for the rabbit to see, but my vision was clear. I was a practiced hunter of the night, the silent silhouette that rode upon the shadows that flickered and changed with every ray of light.

I was now so close to the rabbit I could smell it, it's scent filling the slits on my nose that served as nostrils. My eyes burned amber, glittering like two shining topaz stones whose light lasted even through the black of midnight. I could not let this feed get away. A plump, fat rabbit like this one would satisfy my hunger for longer than any old rat. One of it's long, velvety ears twitched behind it's head, but before it had even had a chance to gather itself and leap away from the deadly creature stalking through the shadows, my fangs sank through it's fur and flesh, and the creature fell limp in my jaws. It was another successful night's hunt.

Summer
The heat of the day was intense and unwelcome in the australian bush. Brumbies grazing in the highlands flicked annoying, painful botflies from their bodies, their coats glistening with a sheen of sweat. The stallion raised his head as a cool, welcome breeze blew his way. Anything that was seen from afar had a rippled look, from the heatwaves that seemed everywhere. As night fell the horses relaxed, the cool air washing over their sweaty bodies and seemingly washing away their perspiration. The brumbies were now free to sleep.

Our Last Dance
by ~MidnightLycan

As I sit upon the stairwell
Head held heavy in my hands
Shining tears run down my face
At the thought of our last dance.

The atmosphere was loud and bright
With both melody and bass
And as we stepped onto the floor
I was safe in your embrace.

I remember your kind smile
Once full of love and joy
And I looked into the eyes
Of once a lively, loving boy.

Then came that fateful day
That I never will forget
Though you were strong and bold and brave
It was your match you finally met.

As you stepped onto the blackened road
You were swiftly swept aside
By the truck that took your youthful life
And in that spot you died.

And though I'm told it isn't true
It is myself that I will blame
For not being there to save you
As I hang my head in shame.
