Feather's Song

~ This is a story about a young teenage she-wolf, and her best friend, a large, brown, scruffy male wolf ~

Feather ~ A white she-wolf with a strange black marking on her shoulder
Bracken ~ A large brown, male hunter
Blue ~ Feather's mother, a small but beautiful silver she-wolf

Chapter one:

“Bracken!” I howled playfully as he nipped my tail. He dashed behind a large tree, and I scampered after him, my paws moving so fast I could barely feel the ground beneath my feet. I saw a flash of brown. Then another. Bracken! I raced after him. Suddenly, I felt myself crash into my friend’s back as he stopped running abruptly. “Why did you stop running?” I barked, slightly irritated that he had ruined a great chase. “Bracken? Are you listening to me?” I stared at his blank eyes, they seemed to be focused on something behind me. I slowly turned my head around to see what he was looking at. “Uh oh...” I gulped.

~Chapter two~

The alpha of the pack studied us angrily. “You young wolves are supposed to be hunting!” He growled, his lip curled in a snarl. I couldn’t speak, my voice seemed to be caught in my throat as a memory flashed through my head. “No!” Yelped my mother as her tiniest pup gasped his last breath. “You... killed him!” she whimpered, staring at alpha’s blood stained paws. “You disobeyed the law of the pack” he snarled. I blinked my eyes, the memory fading. “I will let you off today,” growled the muscular black wolf. “Leave my sight, NOW” Bracken and I took no time to scamper off to find the wolves we were supposed to be hunting with. As soon as we were fall from the alpha’s sight, I stopped, looking at my friend. “He let us go...” sighed Bracken.

~Chapter three~ (short chapter)

~ 2 years later ~

“Don’t leave me!” I howled, burying my muzzle in my mother’s fur as the light in her eyes faded. Tears streamed down my face as I felt Bracken brush my flank with his tail, settling down next to me. “We... will have to bury her after moonrise.” he whispered, licking my cheek. “Why does alpha have to be like this...” I whimpered, a new haunting memory flashing through my mind. “Didn’t he care about Blue at all? I mean, she was his mate.”

In this chapter Blue is killed by the alpha, FYI

~Chapter Four~

I woke up in the morning feeling stiff and miserable. You would too, if your mother had just died. I stretched my legs and decided to go hunting. All I caught was a mere rabbit, but food is food, as they say. I quickly ate, and dashed off into the forest. Feeling like part of my heart had been ripped out, I studied a strange stone I has just trod on. It looked like it was made of glass, and it was purple. My favorite color! I buried the rock where i could find it again, suddenly feeling lighter. Wait a moment... I wasn't feeling just emotionally lighter, I actually felt lighter! I looked down atmy paws to see them hovering about half an inch off the ground, but as quickly as it had begun, I dropped down to the ground again. Weird...
