culture help in writing

hi! i'm,,, not sure if this is where i should be posting this, since it's related to my own writing project but it isn't exactly,,, sharing?? my writing? so if this isn't the correct place to put this, please feel free to move it!

i'm working on a timepiece webcomic set in the wild west (1870's, to be exact) and have various characters that are from cultures that are not my own. i've done quite a bit of online research (once the pandemic starts to level out in my area, i'm hoping to make it to the library to check out some books that might help), however i feel it's difficult to find reliable and truthful information unless it's directly from someone of the culture you're researching. i have characters from indigenous cultures, japanese culture, chinese culture, latinx culture, black cultures (cuban, various african countries), and various european cultures (german, irish, italian, etc). me, being a white american woman, would like to represent these various cultures as accurately and as respectfully as possible. i also understand that it is no bipoc's job to educate me on their cultures, however in this day and age it's very hard to trust everything you read as being truthful or accurate, especially from such an old time period.

i was hoping to find some folks willing to help educate me in order to respectfully represent these cultures in my work? if anyone is willing to assist me, i'd greatly appreciate it! feel free to reply here or dm me. thank you!
