Tickstripe was sitting next to Elmstar. Often, the two cats would take a break from the crowded camp and sit downstream. There was a small cliff that overlooked the river. Birds chirped all day long, and a soft breeze rustled the trees above. The mother and son stared straight ahead and closed their eyes.
“Did I tell you about the gathering?” Tickstripe asked softly, eyes still closed. Elmstar hummed and shook her head.
“I met this pair. Their names were, um, Hailcloud and Fratillarytail.” He meowed “They said they used to be from ElmClan.” Elmstar’s ears flicked up.
“ElmClan.” She gasped “I haven’t heard of them since my parents told me about them. I didn’t know any of them were still alive.”
“Yea,” Tickstripe meowed “Hailcloud used to be Hailstar, and Fratillarytail is his mate.”
“I remember Batfur and Quailthroat talking about them.” Elmstar hummed in awe. Her mind was swirling with wonder. She found it fascinating that there were still cats from her past out there, and it made her wonder how many BearClan cats were out there in other clans, leading different lives…

Wolverinekit was now more sure of herself. She could walk confidently for a good while, and Thistlewing was super proud of her. But, like her father, she wasn’t confident in her speech. Now, Falconfeather had a throat injury. Wolverinekit had a problem with pronunciation. She could talk fine, but her breathing interrupted her sentence flow and at the end, she would trial off to a quieter tone. Salmonpaw may have been in the apprentice’s den, but he still followed Wolverinekit around for his kicks and giggles.
“Hey Wobblekit!” He called, strutting over to her “I heard you can’t even argue back now.”
“Shut up, Salmonpaw.” She murmured. The red tom leaned town and shoved his muzzle in her face.
“What’s that?” He whispered, stinking breath blasting in her face “I didn’t hear you, mousie.”
“Why do you even bully me? It’s not like...you gain anything from it.” Salmonpaw sneered and shook his head.
“You’re the only piece of entertainment in this StarClan-forsaken place.” He heard Sablenight call him from across the clearing. “I’ll be back, mousie. You’re my little plaything now, don’t you forget it.” He slapped her softly on the muzzle with his tail and trotted away. Wolverinekit hissed as he walked away, and unbeknownst to her, another cat growled with her.
