Adventure

Postby Thebattleangel » Sun Jul 22, 2018 5:41 pm

The moon is high, the sky draped in a black sheet, the sound of owls ‘whoing’ filling the night, the slight wind causing the tall oak trees to sway sending a chill that flows through the manes of viscets. The ground slightly soft because of the rain from the previous night Spiro wiggled her toes everytime she stepped to feel the soft earth underneath her paws, they had just gotten off the bus to go to summer camp, the camp Advisor, Aphrodite, was in front of the line of other visclings that were going to the camp alongside Spiro, Ceorras older sibling is also going there too to assist Aphrodite since there are a few too many young viscets for a single advisor to handle. For Spiro, the thought of being away from her parents made her homesick, especially with Ceorras mean older sibling around.

Spiro kept looking behind her to see her friend Ceorra, hiding her feelings behind a smile, he was the only thing that made her feel somewhat safer. When Aphrodite started assigning the sleeping quarters it stung that boys and girls couldn't be mixed, meaning that she would not be able to see Ceorra as much as she would prefer, but trying something new can be good, it is what her mother had always told her. All of the other viscets around Spiro stirred when someone that they knew didn't end up in the same cabin as their friends.

When her name was called she looked back at Ceorra sadly, ‘Bye,’ she said with a fake smile, not daring to argue with the camp Advisor about where she was assigned because that would be very rude of her, she began walking into her cabin but every step she took the lonelier she would get. She entered the cabin; number twelve is the one she was placed in, her sleeping quarter is pretty roomy, definitely bigger on the inside then it was the outside. Two beds were placed on each side of the room, each cleanly made with chocolates on the pillow, each bed has a bedside table with two drawers with a trunk at the backboard of each bed, since she was the first one placed in number twelve she chose the bed with the sheet with roses, it reminded her of home.

The bed she chose was near a window so she could look outside, she could see birds, tall towering oak trees along with a weeping willow tree in the background, the silence in the room was deafening to her as she placed the suitcase at the end of her bed and began unpacking. She had bought her favourite teddy with her that smelt like her mother, the homesickness was really getting to her but she wouldn’t let that destroy camp for her, her teddys name is Jona. She also bought a locket, holding a selfie she had taken with Ceorra, her best friend is absolutely everything to her, she’s never travelled without the trinket it always in her possession.

Spiro heard light footsteps then the creak of the door, she turned around to see a pps viscet like her but blue with a coat like a planet. The two viscets got acquainted quickly, Spiro could tell tidbits from her personality just by talking to her, she then found out her name was Bleu. After the two were acquainted they decided to wait a while to see if other cabin mates would turn up but they could no longer hear Aphrodite's voice calling names so they gave up and went to sleep.

--------

Spiro woke up to the sound of birds chirping, she blinked her eyes a few times to correct her eyesight, she looked over to her bedside, the clock read 6:00 am but she could hear a lot of viscets outside but their voices didn’t tune out the rumbles of her impatient stomach. She looked around the cabin to see two empty beds, the other bed apart from hers occupied by Bleu, she got out of her bed and out of the cabin to go outside, the young girl looked around in desperation to see her friends face but sighs when she doesn’t spot him, she sits at the only vacant bench seat in the campsite playing with her paws.

Breakfast was served, Bleu sat beside Spiro attempting to comfort her cabin mate but she wouldn’t go for it, not once touching her food, though her stomach was rumbling profusely she was afraid to eat anything because she feared it coming back up again., the noise of the other campers seemed to get much louder when there was food around, Spiro tried to tune it out the best she could but it was no use. Bleu excused herself from the bench seat to sit with another viscet she knew which cause Spiro to look up to see if she could spot Ceorra, when she spotted him her face lit up, after smiling at each other for a while he sat down beside her, from then on she vowed to try to do everything she could with him although there were some difficulties in that like team sports.
--------
Day turned to night quicker then she thought and with night comes smores, with smores come campfire stories. Spiro and Ceorra sat down on the same log as Bleu and who seemed to be her close friend, there are two different campsites to seat all of the 40 viscets there, their group waiting on Aphrodite and the other waiting on Akio to bring the crackers, chocolate and of course the marshmallows. Spiro was never allowed much chocolate at home because of her mother, Jaiyana wouldn’t let her because it can rot her teeth so she was especially excited for the smores.

Eventually the two turned up, Spiro could not hold her eagerness back so she snuck a fluffy marshmallow when Aphrodite wasn’t looking making Ceorra laugh, everyone got their puffballs of sugar, chocolate, crackers and wires to stick the marshmallow on to cook it, not too runny but not too burnt is how they were advised to cook them but some, mostly Bleu's friend Foxy burnt theirs multiple times. After the s'more cooking all of the campers gathered around Aphrodite's campfire for a camp story along with a little welcome speech. The camp fell silent as the camp advisor began to speak,

“Hello everyone and welcome to camp Tawera!, I hope you have enjoyed your first full day at camp, now it’s time to gather around the campfire and listen to some spooky stories!.”

Spiro shivered in fear, she hates scary stories because they give her nightmares tonight being Halloween made it even worse but Ceorra was able to convince her that it would not be that bad, of course, she believed him.

“This spooky story on this dark Halloween night is about a viscling who is curious that set out into the night, this viscet did not expect what it was going to come across a spirit with huge teeth who is always down on all fours. This young boy kept walking down the trail of paw prints he found but when they stopped he found a viscet bound in an unbreakable substance, crystal.” Spiro along with several other viscets gasped in fear at Aphrodite's words, Ceorra held her paw to calm her, “The curious, foolish viscling approached the elder encaged in its crystal shell, in the side of his eye he could see a ghost with big teeth who breathed heavily as he halted in fear hoping the beast did not spot him. But the beast did see him to his dismay so encaged in the crystal he too became.”

The camp stirred with fright, Spiro hid her face in Ceorras chest, she felt like that it was her safe haven, her only safe place, she wished she had never come to the camp at all, when everyone was dismissed Spiro was escorted to her cabin by her friend, her and Bleu stayed up most of the night too terrified to go to sleep but she was curious, does that monster actually exist?, which did scare her much more.

Morning came very slowly, the girls of cabin twelve got no sleep when they were about to get ready for the day they heard a knock at the door when Spiro opened it two happy faces greeted her, Ceorra and Foxy. “Guys! Do you think the monster Aphrodite talked about is real!?,” Ceorra asked the girls absolutely buzzing with excitement, “Ceorra, I don't know, we couldn’t sleep last night at just the thought of that thing possibly roaming through the woods,” Spiro responded with fear permanently scarred into her eyes, “Aww, come on Spiro! Where is your sense of adventure?,” Foxy inserted in a cross tone, Bleu came and stood beside Spiro, “Calm down you two, we aren’t going to go after that beast, give it up,” Bleu snapped at the boys, “We could be the younger version of Ghostbusters!,” Ceorra exclaimed with even more excitement causing the two girls to roll their eyes in sync.

After much debating between both parties, Bleu and Spiro agreed to go with their friends in the forest to see if the monster actually exists, but more for their own sake for sleeping the next night then for Ceorra along with Foxy’s. The four friends organised to sneak out of their cabins at eight o'clock at night because all of the other campers would be asleep by then, they all stored some leftovers from dinner as well as a flashlight in their little bags they would bring with them.

They wind began to howl as the four friends dove deeper into the forest. The caw of ravens echoed in the night, the trees swaying in the cold air, Spiro wished that she was at home with her sister, Persephone had promised to always protect her, ever since she was born. They worry displayed on her face was like it was etched in stone, never withering, never fading, sometimes Bleu would stay at her side to comfort her the best she could most of her attempts were successful but it wasn't long until the feelings reformed.

“Guys look!,” Ceorra called with a bounce in his voice,
The other three ran to him to see something magnificent, a viscet encaged in crystal, like Aphrodite said,
“You’ve gotta be kidding,” Bleu exclaimed in disbelief,
“So the monster is real!,” Foxy yelled,
Spiro shuddered at the mention of the monsters possible existence,
“But where is it then?,” Ceorra inserted curiously
“Guys, we better go back to camp,” Spiro mentioned worriedly,
The group fell silent for a while.

“Spiro, come on it will be fun,” Bleu said reassuringly,
“Bleu I'm Not going,” she snapped, “You guys can go without me, I’m going back to camp.”
“Fine. Go. We don’t need you anyway,” Foxy said angrily,
Spiro looked at Ceorra hoping he would tell her not to go, with a sigh she turned and ran back toward the way of camp not looking behind her, feeling betrayed anger rising inside her.

The more that she ran she became more lost, she stopped, put her paw over her locket ripped it from her neck throwing it to the ground in hate, the locket opened from the force showing the picture it held overwhelming her with guilt, “Why didn’t you say for me to not go Ceorra…,” she looked ahead of her to see a fork in the road, she looked down at the locket one last time as she ran to the right stopping instantly as soon as something comes into her view.

Spiro screamed in fear as she saw the monsters silver hairy back to her, she hid for her life in a nearby bush, the monster became alerted by her scream it turned around from the viscet it was freezing, there are two other crystalised viscets beside it, all three looked like Ceorra, Bleu and Foxy, she tried her hardest not to cry.

The monster looked all around the forest clearing looking for the scream source, but gave up after a while the beast gave up its search and exited the clearing leaving a trail of slobber as it did so, but there was something strange about this beast as she saw it leave but couldn't put her finger on what it was.

She emerged from the bush she had hidden and approached the crystal viscets “It’s all my fault… I'm sorry…,” as the words escaped her mouth a gust of wind knocked down the viscet in crystal giving her a fright, “Wait… cardboard…?,” she said allowed as she looked over the cardboard, “So the monster isn’t real…,” she exhaled with relief as she knocked down the other two with her tail, it may have reassured her but she still can’t find the way back to camp.

Spiro exited the clearing attempting to find the camp for the second time, but this time she found tracks in the soft forest dirt that she recognised, “Ceorra…?” she yelled with happiness but no reply came back, so she decided to follow the tracks. After a long time of following them camp was just ahead and so was Ceorra.

She ran into his arms as Bleu, as well as Foxy, watched with guilt,
“Spiro thank god you’re ok,”
“You too!, I saw you guys in crystal!” she said excitedly, happy to be back in her best friends arms
“What do you mean and where is your locket?” he escaped her hug gently,
“I’ll show you what I mean and I seem to have… lost… it…,” she led the three to the fake cardboard crystals of themselves,
“So he isn’t real?,” Ceorra said with disappointment,
“Looks like it,” Bleu inserted,
“Hey guys!,” Foxy yelled while running toward them, “Look what I found!,” he showed the three of them a golden locket, “I believe this is yours Spiro?,” Foxy handed the locket to Spiro.

She gently took it and put it around her neck, she reached into her bag to get out her polaroid camera, “Guys! Come here to take a photo,”
All four friends smiled and the three of them gathered around Spiro who snapped the photo when the photo printed she opened up her locket took out the photo of her and Ceorra exchanging it for one of all four of them when the picture was taken they began walking back.

They paused when they came across multiple beams of light all four knew that they were going to get in very deep trouble,
“They must be looking for us…,” Spiro whispered, “What are we going to do…?,”
“Well, we can’t go through the front doors,” Bleu inserted,
“Maybe the back windows?,” Foxy added with fear,
Spiro felt a shudder go down her spine, “We need to go face them, they are looking for us,”
“Spiro, you’re right… what if we lie and say we were going to the bathroom and got lost?,” Ceorra inserted,
“All four of us together?, not likely that they will believe that” Bleu muttered
