        {| ;; Question Count 39 questions

{| ;; Gritt asks
    where did he come from?
- He was born and raised in a small village in a dense forest at the base of some really big mountains. This village also happens to despise witchcraft with a burning passion .
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
What’s his name? Does he have a name?
- His name is Eadonn, which is a combination of Ea which means "Lord of the Earth" and "Lord of the Underworld" and is also the name of a god of creation, and Donn which just means "Brown" but is the name of a king of the underworld. It also sounded like Eden as in Garden of Eden so I figured hey, irony points.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    What does he like?
- He has a strong interest in witchcraft, black magic, the occult, sorcery, potion making, etc.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    What are his quirks?
- He speaks with a sort of hissing sound, he squints a lot, and he might have asthma and be allergic to cats.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Does he have routine in his life?
- Not really unless you count routine as "not being burned at the stake"
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Why are there chains on him?
- Because someone in his village accused him of being a witch (which he is but no one had proof) and he was arrested. He managed to escape the next day and found someone to help him break the chains connecting the cuffs
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Who helped him? Are they a significant character?
- I haven't quite decided yet. They may be a nobody and unimportant, but I do have a couple characters who it could be and depending on who, they could easily be quite significant.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Could he be a necromancer?
- I think a necromancer is actually one of the things he isn't. When I was writing about him one of the things I mentioned was that if his body died and he wanted to reanimate it he would need the help of an experienced necromancer.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
How did he learn about magic?
- Yhe village he lived in had a lot of mythology and dogma talking about how witchcraft is punishable by death, so that was where his interest in magic started. He started studying magic in secret, but how he actually got resources I'm not sure of. I would guess an underground network of witches and magicians just because his village was so isolated others would notice and start to wonder if he was gone too long.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Is he benign or evil?
- Right now he's definitely going more toward evil
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is there others that he is involved with?
- Quite a few actually. He may be brothers with Paris and may be the reason Paris is the way he is. He may be involved with Du'an who would be the reason his soul is separated from his body. He may be involved with Prince Kyne, doing things like spying, stealing, or making dark secret potions for torturing prisoners. He may also be involved with Mika and/or Asataryth (who belongs to Quaking actually) and one of them may have been the one who broke the chains. (Mika and Asa are also wanted criminals Kyne is trying to hunt down due to the treasonous act of siding with the goblins in the war who are supposed to get captured later on so they may meet up with Eadonn again?)
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Is he a lone wolf?
- That's actually literally on the of traits I put for his personality so yeah I'd say
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
How does he get around with his poor eyesight?
- I haven't quire decided that yet. One thing he does is turn his head to see things better from his good eye, but I would imagine that if he's just trying to get around at this point in his life he's been doing it for so long it's not much trouble for him anymore
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    How old is he?
- His eyes started glowing at 16 and he was accused of witchcraft at around 21 - 26, so I would imagine he's anywhere from 30 - 45? He's sort of at that age where he's approaching, at, or just past the prime of his life but isn't old yet.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Does he age?
- I'm actually not sure. Since his soul is no longer bound to his body, his body may not physically age anymore. He also gained supernatural healing powers when his soul was severed, so he even if he does age he may be able to reverse it
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is his whole world against witchcraft or is the village an isolated incident?
- Considering this whole world is set in a Medieval time period, I would say that the general opinion of witches isn't too great but I think his village is certainly one of the places that takes a much more extreme stance against witchcraft likely because it's so isolated.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    He seems powerful
- He is pretty powerful but he's actually not the most powerful of my magic users. I think he actually may be the weakest of them? Most of what he does is passive stuff like causing big distractions, healing wounds, and hypnotizing others. Any sort of direct attack he did I imagine would be done with potions and poisons.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is there any specific skill that separates him from the other witches exclusively?
- Well so far he's the only one of my magic users who explicitly labels themself as a witch. Du'an is a Soul Reaper and doesn't have any latent magical powers, he had to use old black magic artifacts and incantations he found that others had already invented and proven to work. Ethon is one of the strongest magic users in the land, but he's much more of a warlock than a witch because he doesn't really use potions or anything like that, he can control magic more directly. Though Ethon is sort of in a similar boat in that his soul is also no longer connected to his body though not quite in the same way. Evander is very much like Ethon in that he has incredible talent with magic directly and doesn't need to use potions, so he's more like a mage or magician. I suppose what sets Eadonn apart from them is a lot of his power is from using natural sources like potions, poisons, spells, incantations, and artifacts more than connection to magical energy. Basically, Ethon and Evander use magic more actively where as Eadonn uses magic much passively and indirectly.

-- What's the difference between a witch, a mage, a magician, and a warlock?
- Magician is a general term for anyone who uses magic
- Mage is the term for someone who has a direct connection to magical energy and uses magic directly and actively
- A warlock is a highly advanced mage with incredible talents in magic
- A witch doesn't need to have a magical connection in order to practice magic. Whereas the mage's ability comes from active direct use of magic, witches can use naturally occurring things as a source of power to create potions, poisons, and spells, so a witch uses magic a lot more passively and indirectly.
-- Mages and witches are not mutually exclusive terms. One can be classified as both a witch and a mage.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is who accused him a character of significance?
- Currently who accused him isn't very important, but as time goes on it's possible that they may become someone significant.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Does he use magic strictly? Does he have weapons?
- He either uses magic and potions exclusively or just the majority of the time. I suppose potions and poisons could technically be considered weapons, but aside from that I imagine he would have an enchanted knife carved out of bone as a backup weapon if things go south.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Does he have a refuge? Does he roam?
- While he lived in the village, he had his own little secret getaway either farther up the mountain or deeper into the forest (possibly even both if he was really paranoid), but after he escaped I pictured him as being fairly nomadic. He might have a place he goes back to every now and then, but I'm not sure where. He may end up getting a job from Prince Kyne as a sort of warden/potions master/spy/medic so I suppose in that case he would probably stay somewhere near the castle?
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Are there any spells/potions etc. that he favors?
- There probably are a select group of spells and potions he uses more often than others, but right now I'm not sure which specific ones he would use more, mainly because I haven't created a list of spells/potions yet.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is the ability to use magic limited to certain individuals or is the ability available to all and used by few?
- It's both technically. Only a few have a natural connection with magic. They're the mages and warlocks of the world and they can use magic directly and actively without needing to use spells and potions. Anyone can use potions and old incantations and chants as they don't require a latent ability to use magic, those use things found in nature as conduits for magic. Those are the witches. Only a few can use magic directly, but with the right materials anyone can use it indirectly. Despite this though, magic users of any kind are still a minority.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Seeing as how his spirit is disconnected from his body, if his body dies does his spirit go on, even possibly to the point of repossesing another physical being?
- Yes actually. If his body dies, his spirit stays behind in the physical plane. From there, he could possess someone else, he could use magic to create himself a new body, he could find a necromancer to reanimate his body (possibly by possessing the necromancer first) and possessing his own body again, or he might just be able to possess his own dead corpse. I mean, who hasn't dreamed of being a zombie?
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Does he have parents? If so, alive or dead?
- He does have parents, but I'm not sure how prevalent in his life they were. They may have left him to essentially raise himself - due to neglect or because they believed that's how he would best learn to make it in life I'm not sure - or they may have raised him. Their mortality status? Unsure. Maybe they died shortly after he was born, maybe they're just fine, or maybe they were also accused of being witches and ended up being hanged? In that case that could explain how Eadonn was accused ("They were witches so he must be too"), or maybe they were accused and he tried to defend them and so he was arrested too for siding with witches. This could also possibly be a way for the accuser to become relevant again later (revenge plot anyone?) because maybe whoever accused his parents also later accused him? And if the accuser accused his parents and him, I think the question there would be why? It may be possible there was bad blood between their families even, and the accuser saw this as a way to easily get rid of them.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Could the knife be an inheritance?
- It could be an inheritance like the bandana, but I think it's actually an artifact he stole from somewhere, or he may have made and enchanted it himself.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Did he have a teacher? Was he self taught?
- I don't think he would've had a teacher because of how taboo magic was. He would've been self taught, though I think other witches may have provided him with some of the resources he needed to get started.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
I assume that because his name included several gods, the people of the time had a belief in at least one.
- Yes. Mythology, dogma, and religion is highly prevalent in nearly all societies and kingdoms at this point, and most of these believed in at least one god. The specific religion his village followed I believe would've included several gods, certainly at least one of witchcraft, and possibly one of the underworld, one of creation, one of the hunt, one of justice, and one of nature. In addition to that I think it would be fair to say that their god of witchcraft would be demonized and villainized as a devil-like being responsible for terrible things, which is why witchcraft is punishable by death.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is there any resentment among the magic users?
- Probably at least some between the magic users and non-magic users of the village. There would probably be some who would be resentful of the intense persecution, but I imagine most would just understand and accept that it's something super risky to get into and would just do their best to avoid getting caught. Between magic users I imagine some of the mages would believe that what they did was more legitimate what the witches did as well as some of the witches believing what they did was more legitimate because it's all natural or something like that. There's also probably some jealousy between them as well, like I could see some witches being jealous they don't have natural magic powers while the mages did.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Are there any he has taken a liking to?
- I don't think so? He doesn't seem like the type to really have or want many friends or relationships.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Given that, are there any with specific vendettas against Eadonn?
- Possibly? Now that I think about it I don't think Ethon and Eadonn would get along very well. Ethon is a warlock who also had his soul separated from his body though I think by a different process and with different effects. Ethon would probably think of Eadonn as being smug and arrogant in taking pride that his soul is severed and because there's some really bad history between Ethon and Du'an, and Eadonn contracted Du'an for something
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Did he have siblings?
- He might've had a brother named Paris. I haven't figured out their connection yet, but Paris is a character I got from a while back who has a very similar palette and design to Eadonn and Paris had a mysterious past that he couldn't remember, so it occurred to me that maybe they were siblings. Maybe some sort of magic meddling Eadonn did is what caused Paris to become essentially a wandering forest spirit who tricks travelers into getting lost.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is there an antithesis to Eadonn?
- Probably Evander. Evan is a young and powerful yet inexperienced mage. He's a bookworm, very passive, and is much more righteous and moral. Evan is also actually the one who finds Paris and tries to help him.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Do he and Eadonn ever collide?
- I don't think so? Evan is probably too passive for that. You'd need to do something to really piss him off in order to get him to fight. Ethon and Eadonn have probably fought at some point though
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Have Eadonn and Evander ever met?
- I don't think Eadonn and Evan have ever met before, but depending on how things go they might later on.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
    Or Eadonn and Paris?
- Regardless of if Paris is Eadonn's brother, I'm sure the two have met, either in Eadonn helping raise Paris as his younger sibling or just as Paris and Eadonn running into each other in the woods due to the placement of the village and Paris's hobby of maknig others get lost in forests.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
Is there any way his spirit could die/be killed?
- Absolutely. His spirit is completely immune to normal weapons and poisons, but it can still be hurt by enchanted weapons. For example, a wound inflicted by an enchanted knife on his body would hurt both his body and his soul whereas the same wound from a normal knife would only hurt his body. If a wound is inflicted by an enchanted weapon, he also can't heal it like he can heal other injuries.
-----

{| ;; Gritt asks
And I assume that the scar over his eye was from an enchanted weapon.
- No actually, it wouldn't have to be. That happened before his soul was separated from his body and before he became immune to normal weapons. That happened when he was accused of being a witch, and he didn't contract Du'an until a couple years after that. I'm not sure if the scar was inflicted by claws or by a weapon, but if it was a weapon there's a possibility that the weapon was enchanted or had at least been blessed. It was a common practice in his village for people to have things and especially weapons blessed by priests and reverends. I actually wouldn't be terribly surprised if that's also where Eadonn got his own enchanted knife.

{| ;; ScottyBiscotti asks
I don't know if you already went over this or not but I have one question. What is the source of magic and such? Did it mysteriously appear and a few people were able to harness it and become more powerful while others went different routes and learned how to make/use potions or was it something else?
- Well in this universe I kind of went something similar to the Eragon route of magic where some people have a connection to magic energy and others don't. Those who don't have connection to this magic energy can sense and use magic directly to shape the world, whereas those who have the connection can't do that. I'm not sure if magic use is directly tied to energy and life force. I'm not sure how the magic started or how the first magicians were able to actually have this connection, or if magic has always existed on their planet or if it's from somewhere else. In either case, magic isn't necessarily super new for this era, it's just really feared and not understood well. I'm not sure how potion making came about. Probably someone found a cool looking herb, ground it up into a tea or a soup, realized it had some really strange properties, and suddenly we've got people throwing random things into cauldrons of boiling water just to see what happens. Medieval scientists if you ask me.
